The upper echelons are trying to erase most of the information about Godzilla and other monsters from the Aratrum’s database server. Their rationale is that the shameful memories of defeat are unnecessary for humanity as it moves to a new frontier, as they would only serve to demoralize the descendants of the crew. They want to use that freed-up space to cram in more entertainment data.
It’s absurd.
Losing history means losing the future.
Why did humanity lose the Earth and seek a new home?
How did we end up defeated?
Our descendants have a right to know this.
I must convince the upper echelons.
Please, look after my son Haruo.
In case anything happens… no, I will definitely return before the shuttle launch.

I don’t have plan to translate book 2 of the anime trilogy’s prequel novels, at least for the time being. Maybe if this translation get popular enough or I receive enough donations from this translation, I’ll do an English translation of GODZILLA Project – Mechagodzilla in the near future.
