“What are you doing here, Kurashiki?”
“Well, Asahina told me, ‘[Shinzaki-kun is sure to do something again. Probably during the last competition when I can’t move].’ Heh, Shinzaki, your scheme was so obvious, wasn’t it? How pathetic.”
At Kurashiki’s words, Shinzaki was stunned.
There was no longer a smile on his face.
Only shock, frustration, and hatred were visible.
I see… Shinzaki Yasuhito. That is your true face.
“How was it? Being called out by your underestimated opponent, saying ‘[you didn’t fight me head-on because you lack confidence]’, and then being utterly seen through and defeated by those underhanded tricks – how did that feel?”
“……This bastard…!”
Filled with rage, Shinzaki glares at Kurashiki.
And yet, he can’t even clench his fists.
Because I’m standing before him.
If he takes even a single step, he’ll be killed in an instant.
Understanding this, Shinzaki Yasuhito can’t move.
“What the hell…what the hell are you?! If you weren’t here…if by some tiny chance my plan really was seen through, I could have killed Kurotsuki! Even if that woman was here, it wouldn’t matter! Through brute force, I could–!”
“…Pathetic.”
I cut off Shinzaki’s rant with a single word.
“The moment you lost, you became a losing dog. No matter how much you bark, reality won’t change. To cling to some hypothetical future at that point–is Asahina really having trouble with small fry like you?”
Setting aside the me making excuses to Dojima, I taunt and mock him.
“……! You…bastard! I’ll…kill you!”
In his extreme rage, Shinzaki raises his fist.
The full-power punch he unleashed at Kurotsuki earlier.
Nah, I’ve already seen that. Don’t use the same trick on me twice–or I might kill you right here.
Though I did think that, I’m a nice guy. I’ll just retreat without doing anything.
With Shinzaki’s fist coming at me, I casually vanish.
From the start, I didn’t really have a role here anyway.
Now that Kurashiki has appeared–there’s one more man who must be here as part of the Vigilantes.
“Hahaha—sorry I’m laaate!”
An tremendous laugh and the sound of shattering glass.
Crashing through the window and into the nurse’s office was a muscular hulk.
He casually deflected Shinzaki’s punch with one arm, then slammed him to the ground in one fluid motion.
A classic one-armed throw, as they say.
And Amamori Yūto sits up in the bed, as if the impact just woke him up.
Immediately, Kurashiki makes eye contact!
[When did you switch out with a fake?] she seems to say.
I tilt my head with an [I dunno] expression, and she clicks her tongue.
But her annoyed look only lasts a moment before she puts her chairwoman mask back on.
“D-Dojima-senpai…!”
“Sorry Kurashiki-chan! Asahina-chan asked me too! I had a stomach ache so I went to the bathroom and got held up! Gahaha!”
That man—Dojima Tadashi says this with a smile. He glances at me sitting up in the bed, giving an awkward attempt at eye contact, then looks down at the fallen Shinzaki Yasuhito.
“You’re cornered, Shinzaki Yasuhito. I thought I saw someone else’s face for a second just now…an ally? Ah, nevermind. Either way, the moment I showed up, you lost.”
Dojima Tadashi, the strongest in close combat. His strength is real.
There’s no way your split body could possibly beat him. Shinzaki has no chance of winning.
Gritting his teeth, Shinzaki stands up. He seems to have quickly calculated their relative forces.
Not continued struggle, but [escape]. That’s what he chose.
Having made his choice, his next actions are swift. He starts moving to flee through the broken window–
“Oh my, you seem to be in quite a hurry. And where might you be going?”

Spotting the girl sitting on the windowsill, he completely freezes.
Of course, even Dojima Tadashi was just buying time until she arrived.
No matter how strong, he’s powerless against her abnormal speed.
That’s precisely why Dojima, Kurashiki, Kurotsuki – none of them hesitated to play second fiddle.
Because on an instinctual level, they understand they can’t defeat her.
“Asahina…Kasumi…!”
“Shinzaki-kun, why so glum?”
The situation had already been reversed.

The countless strategies Shinzaki considered, the many malicious plans he had – none of them remain now.
Asahina-san saw through them all completely and decisively crushed them head-on.
I did help buy a little time at the end…but that wouldn’t have been necessary in the first place. If only Dojima hadn’t been late, or even if he was, Kurashiki was there. With his split body, it would have been impossible for him to defeat Kurashiki Hotaru.
Because this girl seems just as strong as Kurotsuki.
…Well, after thinking it over, Shinzaki.
You’re completely defeated.
“Now then, Shinzaki-kun. You seemed to be in a hurry? In that case, I’ll simply step aside. You claim you’ll defeat me without resorting to tricks.”
“……..”
He had long since passed his boiling point.
On Shinzaki’s face was etched an emotionless expression born of sheer rage.
Ordinarily, it would have been a terrifying sight that could freeze the spine.
But you know, humans unconsciously tend to look down on opponents they’ve already beaten.
I’m no exception to that, nor is Asahina Kasumi.
Of course, we won’t let our guard down or become overconfident.
–But we’ve come to understand that Shinzaki Yasuhito is an opponent we can defeat if we use everything at our disposal.
Here and now, the vigilantes have understood.
From now on, they’ll surely never fear Shinzaki Yasuhito’s presence again.
In fact, I don’t feel much fear from the current Shinzaki at all.
His large frame seems like that of a small child.
There’s no sense of intimidation from his back. He is–yes, just a losing dog now.
Gritting his teeth, he exits the nurse’s office into the hallway.
The eyes he turned back to glare at us were filled with overwhelming hatred.
I didn’t miss his parting words.
“–I’ll kill you all.”
That was surely the opening act to the final battle with Class 1-B.
First, Asahina Kasumi was defeated.
This time, Shinzaki Yasuhito was defeated.
Just looking at the results, it’s one win and one loss – an ambiguous outcome neither way.
But not for that reason–everyone here understood.
Shinzaki Yasuhito is not the kind of man to give up at this point.
His spirit is not yet broken. He will surely challenge us, attack us again.
Just to utterly crush Class 1-C.
Asahina-san lets out a big sigh in the now-empty nurse’s office.
Seeing her, I narrow my eyes.
Hey, Asahina.
To be honest–I thought you would lose again this time.
I expected Kurotsuki to lose the ninth event, then you’d win the final one.
And in between, I thought Kurotsuki Kanade would be killed.
I did want you to see through everything if possible, but I didn’t think you could and acted accordingly.
Ultimately, I was prepared to stop Shinzaki myself.
But looking at the outcome, my actions were pointless.
Kurashiki and Dojima’s placements, their timing – it was all flawless.
Asahina Kasumi truly saw through every possibility and achieved victory.
I myself thought the task you set was impossible, so your performance was completely beyond my expectations.
…Damn it, I don’t want to praise you but there’s nothing else but to praise!
At least make one little mistake, to show you’re still Asahina Kasumi!
“Kurotsuki-kun…Amamori-kun too. I’m sorry for causing a commotion.”
Asahina-san apologizes, but I wave it off.
“No, it’s fine. Asahina, you did nothing wrong.”
“My name is Asahi…na… wait, what? D-did You just… my name…!”
Ignoring the surprised Miss Asahina, I turn my gaze out the window.
The final event has ended, and the sports festival has drawn to a close.
What awaits now is an all-out war with Shinzaki Yasuhito, a bloody battle.
Even Asahina Kasumi likely finds this more than she can handle.
There are no heroes in this world who can single-handedly stop a war.
So, Asahina.
–I’ll be the one to fight the next battle.
You are strong, truly impressive.
But you still don’t know that there are those above you.
Let me teach you true strength. Consider that the reward for your efforts this time.
… But there is one more thing. There is an obstacle remaining before the next battle.
Looking forward, I see Dojima laughing cheerfully.
“Amamori, you haven’t forgotten, have you?”
“No, of course not.”
I haven’t forgotten, first I’ll have to deal with you somehow.
I’ll crush you head-on, making it so you can never recruit me again.
Well, Shinzaki is the kind of monster that would run away first, but–
“I’m looking forward to it, Senpai Dojima.”
This is just a warm-up before the war with Class B.
Dojima Tadashi, one of the school’s strongest – well, I can expect a certain level of performance from him.
At the very least, I hope he can serve as a warm-up exercise.
