Chapter 78: The Magical Cavaliers of the Kingdom of Leuville
The Magic Cavalry of the Leuville Kingdom.
Along with the Kingdom’s Knight Order and the Magic Technology Research Institute, it is an organization that the Leuville Kingdom takes pride in.
There are several differences between a “knight” and a “rider,” but the most obvious difference is their combat styles.
While the Kingdom’s Knight Order specializes in combined tactics using swords and magic, the main combat style of the Kingdom’s Magic Cavalry is to use only magic.
The Magic Cavalry is composed of those skilled in magic, those lacking prowess in martial arts or swordplay but with the will to fight, and those who have sworn to dedicate themselves to sorcery.
Thus, they rarely take the field against Ragments, powerful foes with resistance to all magic attacks except the Fifth Element. Instead, they are more often dispatched to exterminate monsters, fulfilling a role on par with the knights in combat strength, albeit with a different orientation in person-to-person combat.
Serving as a special advisor to the Magic Cavalry is Calais Rozzo, the head of the Rozzo Duchy.
The Rozzo family has traditionally contributed to the development of the Leuville Kingdom’s magical forces.
Calais holds a position there as part of this tradition, and he himself has also helped nurture the kingdom’s Magic Cavalries.
Some voices call for the family to focus on developing magic technology like the Mersenne Duchy, but Calais has consistently dedicated himself to training Magic Cavalries.
He believes the Mersennes can handle magic technology research;
by clearly dividing roles, the two houses can steadily increase the Leuville Kingdom’s national strength.
This was not Calais’s intention from the start, however…
“Excuse me.”
In a certain room at the headquarters of the Kingdom’s Magic Cavalry,
the officers had gathered. At the center, a man wearing the robe of a court mage greeted Calais as if anticipating his arrival.
“Ah, you’re here, Calais.”
The serene young man smiled like a blossoming flower. Although his outward appearance was that of someone who had just outgrown childhood, his inner self was the same age as the king.

The court mage of the Leuville Kingdom. As a student, he was specially awarded the kingdom’s highest honor, the Lumiere Medal. After graduating, he joined the Magic Cavalry.
With numerous brilliant achievements such as developing new spell formations and magic potions in addition to monster exterminations, he was granted the title of court mage.

The reason Calais remains a part of the Magic Cavalry as a special advisor is this man,

whom he deeply respects as the court mage.

“It’s no problem. It’s just a regular meeting. Besides, there are no eccentrics in the Magic Cavalry who would care about being five minutes late,”
Heiras said, implying that many oddballs devote their lives to the study of sorcery.
Indeed, among those in the Magic Cavalry who make a name for themselves, especially the officers, it’s not uncommon for some to skip regular meetings entirely to focus on their magical research.
“For someone registered with the Magic Cavalry, you’re unusually diligent, hardworking, and disciplined. You must have had a good reason for being late, I’m guessing—the Land God incident?”
The officers’ expressions changed at Heiras’s words.
That today was the rare occasion when everyone had gathered for the regular meeting was likely due to the Land God incident, something Calais could surmise.

“Splendid. They accomplished it marvelously, those children.”
“Those children” undoubtedly referred to the much-whispered-about black-haired, black-eyed Third Prince and his fiancées, who were called the “accursed.”
“Indeed, it was Luche sama’s doing. To have elegantly resolved the unprecedented situation of the Land God’s contamination.”
“And with the aid of the ‘Ice Prince’ from the Ivelpe Kingdom, that prodigy.”
Most in the magic-centric Magic Cavalry support Leuche, the member of the royal family with the greatest magical power and skill.
Since the “Black King Collapse Incident” caused by Lucille and the others, Prince Leo’s approval rating has dropped significantly, and many Magic Cavalries now voice their desire for Leuche to be the next king.
However…
“The one who accomplished the purification of the Land God was Lady Charlotte Mersenne.”
Silence fell among the officers for a moment at Calais’s words.
“What? Lady Charlotte? True, though not of royal blood, she possesses the rare Fifth Element magical power…”
“But I thought her magic was silver-ranked, one level below the royals’ golden magic.”
“I’m aware her magic capacity is exceptional, but with that quality… I can’t imagine she could have accomplished purifying the Land God.”

“The magic ring completed by the ‘Legendary Engraver’ Lady Eline. Magic to enhance… no, evolve magic itself, must have amplified her purification power. Still, it couldn’t have been easy… But Charlotte has grown too. More importantly, Alfred’s resourcefulness is interesting.”
Heiras recounted the truth as if he had seen a report.
“And the Third Prince Alfred. According to those on-site, his role was most crucial in resolving this incident—devising the plan, commanding the knights, and repelling the attackers. Many there praised him, as did Luche sama and Lord Noel.”
As Calais reported the key points matter-of-factly, the officers began murmuring again.
“For Luche sama to rate the Third Prince so highly…”
“She’s just being lenient because Alfred is his brother?”
“No, that’s unlikely for her. And the Ice Prince isn’t one to praise insincerely either.”
“There was his impressive showing during the Black King Collapse Incident too.”
“So his prowess during that episode wasn’t a fluke; his true ability is the real deal…”
Once the kingdom’s shadow operative, Alfred’s true strength,
though previously unseen, is steadily spreading above the surface.
In contrast, Heiras smiled gently and softly, as if pleased by the budding heroic tale unfolding before him.
“Here is the report.”
Calais sent out a messenger imp, distributing a report summarizing the recent events to everyone present.
As if a choice dish had been served, the officers devoured every word of the report greedily.
“What’s this? The Chaos Ring and the Children of Six Emotions?”
“Unbelievable content. If it didn’t bear Luche sama and Lord Noel’s signatures, I might have dismissed it as fabrication.”
“…And that’s surprising enough, but to even mention Orchestra…”
Heiras’s expression turned stern upon seeing the mention of the flying, mechanical palace Orchestra in the report.
“In the distant past, when the Night Witch held power, there was said to be a nation thriving in advanced magic technology. I thought it was just a fairy tale…”
“I never expected something like that to have actually existed, even if few now know the name…”
“What shall we do, Sir Heiras? If this report is true, Luche sama will be occupied for some time. But this may also be too much for the Third Prince to handle alone.”
“Is that so?”
While the others whispered about the burden being too heavy for the Third Prince, Heiras was the only one who disagreed.
“Alfred accomplished that much during the Black King Collapse Incident. And in this unprecedented era of the Land God’s contamination, he admirably repelled those connected to the Night Witch. So then—can’t we expect him to rise to this occasion too?”
Speaking in an almost songlike manner, brimming with expectation,
Heiras silenced the others with his words, his eyes shining as he regarded the potential of the young ones.
“Besides, either way, the enemy wields miasma and the power of the Sixth Element. Only a royal with the Fifth Element’s magical power can properly face them in battle. It’s no different from dealing with the usual Ragments.”
Indeed, even for Magic Cavalries, there was no chance of victory against Ragments.
The same was true for Heiras the court mage, yet he still wore a mischievous expression like that of a child plotting something fun.
“Well, given the circumstances this time, we can’t just do nothing… Calais, notify the Magic Technology Research Institute. And also the Second Princess, who has returned from her studies abroad—”

Seeing Calais’s hesitation, Heiras immediately grasped the reason.
