Interlude 1
Fei lay on the bed with his eyes closed. He was in the medical room of the former mansion of the Lord of Point Town. Next to him, Yururu sat, looking at him with concern. Despite the amount of blood he had lost, Fei didn’t look pale. This was because Yururu had given him blood.
Yururu repeatedly stroked Fei’s face, feeling immense relief that he had been saved. She touched him over and over, feeling his presence.
Gently, so as not to disturb his sleep, she continued to stroke him. How much time had passed? Fei opened his eyes.
“Unfamiliar Ceiling…”
“Oh, Fei, I’m so glad!”
Fei’s and Yururu’s eyes met. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him close, his face buried in her chest.
“You made me worry so much… you idiot.”

“……”
“Oh, s-sorry! I didn’t mean to do something weird!”
She felt embarrassed for having hugged him without thinking. She had unconsciously sought him, desperately wanting to be close to him. The realization surprised her.
“No, I caused you trouble…”
“No, don’t worry about it… um, let me tell you what happened after.”
Switching to her role as a holy knight, Yururu began to explain the situation. The labyrinthine place had exploded and vanished without a trace. Johnny-Point Town had been killed by the swordsman Mordred.
Officially, the incident would be handled as Mordred acting alone. However, there was a possibility that something more sinister was behind it, so they decided to keep what they had seen in that labyrinth a secret.
“That’s how it is… Fei, what do you think about all this?”
“I always felt that Johnny was shady… I don’t know the truth, but it’s unlikely he was just a victim.”
“I think so too. Mai and Johnny’s wife also mentioned sensing something off about him earlier.”
“There’s no point in thinking about it further. We don’t have enough information right now.”
“You’re right… I don’t want to think about that place anymore.”
Yururu shuddered as she recalled the sight of the children’s rotting corpses, maggots crawling over them.
What was that place? Who was Johnny-Point Town really? No one knew. Only that the swordsman Mordred had destroyed everything.
If Johnny’s deeds had come to light, his wife and children might have ended up like Yururu.
“Fei, are you feeling okay? Are you in any pain?”
“Usually, I feel more sluggish after passing out, but… I seem to be fine this time.”
“That’s good to hear.”
“Did you… give me your blood?”
“Huh? Oh, yes, you noticed…”
“Your hidden left hand caught my attention… Thank you.”
“No, I’m your master! This is nothing… As long as you’re safe, I’m happy.”
Blushing, Yururu held Fei’s hand. She felt an overwhelming desire to be close to him, to feel his warmth.
“Um, earlier, you called me… Yururu, right?”
“……”
“You usually call me things like ‘hey’ or ‘you,’ which makes us sound like an old married couple, but… I’d be happy if you could call me Yururu from now on.”
“I see.”
Fei’s indifferent reply didn’t mean he agreed, but Yururu hoped it would at least stay in his mind.
A sweet feeling welled up inside her. She wanted to be closer to Fei, to touch him more.
He had almost died, thought she would be left behind, and felt she would be alone again. The sense of relief, joy, and comfort made her emotions peak. Just having him by her side made her incredibly happy.
She couldn’t help but reach out again. She pulled Fei close, burying his face in her chest, holding his head with her arms to keep him there. She wanted to feel his smell, his hair, and the rough sensation of his body.
“……”
Fei tried to resist silently. Yururu knew he didn’t like such contact.
“No, you need to stay in my arms after making me worry so much.”
She whispered in his ear, not as a master, but as a woman in love. Fei, hearing her small, joyful voice, stopped resisting.
They stayed like that for a while, but Yururu couldn’t control herself anymore. She was destined to be in agony.
Meanwhile, Sargento watched them, witnessing Yururu and Fei’s sweet moment.
(Damn it, I’m so jealous!!!)
Fei’s face was buried in Yururu’s chest. As she stroked his ears and whispered cute things, like how he made her worry, Sargento’s envy grew.
(This is so unfair! I’m so jealous!!!)
──Unable to express his jealousy properly, Sargento’s inner thoughts were a mess.
While monitoring Arthur, Sargento occasionally received suspicious looks, as if questioning if he was a lolicon, which made his stomach churn.
For him, being pampered by someone like Yururu, with her motherly, older, cute, and sexy attributes, was a dream.
(That guy! He gets hurt, makes her worry, and then gets comforted? That’s so manipulative!)
(He brings himself down and then lifts himself up,
like the worst kind of man!)
(Stay calm, me. I’m a third-class, excellent holy knight. I’ll find someone too. It’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay…)
(It’s okay. Even if he’s popular now, who knows what’ll happen in the future. He’s just having a moment. It’ll cool off someday.)
──Unfortunately for Sargento, Fei, the match-pump protagonist, would keep getting hurt and raising his likability all year round.
In essence, he was like komatsuna, always in season and tasty in any weather.
Sargento shed tears of blood watching Fei, while a giant panda that loved komatsuna passed by.
“Fei, you’re awake. Good.”
“Oh, uh, hi, Arthur…”
“Fei, are you being pampered by Yururu-sensei?”
“No, it’s more like I want to do this… Fei doesn’t really like this kind of thing, but I’m forcing him.”
“I see… Fei, you can lean on me too, you know?”

Arthur suddenly started acting like an older sister to Fei. Watching this, Sargento thought.
(It’s strange, but Arthur doesn’t make me jealous.)
He found it curious that Arthur didn’t evoke the same jealousy. He was still envious of Fei being hugged by Yururu and couldn’t stand it.
“Hey, it’s time to let go of Fei… It’s my turn to spoil him.”
“Yes, just for today, let me…”
“Fei wants to be pampered by a sister like me.”
(She’s so full of herself.)
That’s what Sargento thought. One way or another, Fei was never embraced by Arthur.
The scene shifts to Point Town’s estate, inside the office, where Johnny’s wife and Mai were present.
“Madam.”
“Mai… is that…”
“Please, stay calm. There’s nothing left. We don’t know what Master Johnny was up to. We might have had suspicions, but it’s wise to let it go.”
“You’re right… I know I can’t be indecisive. I have the people and my sons to think about. But if I had confronted him properly…”
“Talking about ‘if’ won’t change anything. The present remains unchanged. We should think about the future, not the past.”
“…Mai.”
Johnny’s wife and the maid Mai continued to exchange words, both feeling a slight sense of guilt. The wife also felt the loss of her husband deeply.
“You’re right.”
“Yes. Just remembering him can bring Master Johnny some peace.”
“Yes… Mai.”
“Yes?”
“Thank you… You’ve saved me so many times.”
“Not at all.”
“It’s true. I’d love for you to stay here… but I want you to find your own happiness too.”
“…?”
“Go to your former master.”
“What…”
“It’s alright. You finally found her. I’ll be fine, because I still have my children and the townsfolk.”
“Mai will support that… that is my happiness.”
“That may be, but I want you to be even happier. You care about that man, right? Fei, was it? He seemed interested in you. I believe in fate.”
“Madam…”
“It’s fine, I’ll be alright. You’re too good to be just a maid in this small house. So go. I’ll be okay. There are other maids too. I need to move forward and change myself, so go and seize your own happiness.”
“…Mai will…”
“Go. This is an order from your master. And one day, come back and visit me, as the happiest person in the world, as my friend.”
“…Yes, madam.”
Tears welled up in Mai’s eyes. Both her former and current masters were important to her. With gratitude and sadness, she made up her mind to leave.
In the original story, Mai leaves after Johnny Point Town’s death, embarking on various travels leading to an unknown fate. Whether her future holds happiness or sorrow, even the gods wouldn’t know.
◆
I woke up.
An unfamiliar ceiling. As I regained consciousness, I was hugged by Master Yururu. My face was buried in her chest. Even I felt a bit nervous.
I’m still a virgin from my past life, so it’s a bit overwhelming.
Well, it’s typical for the protagonist to be a virgin.
I maintained a cool demeanor, not showing any reaction, as it didn’t fit my protagonist image. Though I wanted to pull away, Master Yururu seemed on the verge of tears, so I stayed silent.
After talking for a while, she hugged me again. Did I worry her that much? I felt really bad. Not just a bit, a lot.
I will keep fighting, probably worrying her again. But I’ll train hard to avoid getting hurt because she’s a good person.
Still… do mentor characters pamper you this much? She feels more like a caring college sister.
With so much pampering… is she more like a big sister character?
Then, Arthur appeared!!
Huh? What? Arthur the big sister?
No, what are you talking about? You don’t say that about yourself. Ah, I get it.
──The suspicious person claiming to be the protagonist’s sister.
They exist sometimes. Those strangers claiming to be your sister. Arthur gives off that vibe.
A suspicious big sister character. Anyway, too much hugging doesn’t suit my cool character, so enough of that.
Time to head back. It seems the White Wolf hunt is postponed. Let’s return to the capital and maybe buy some weapons.
◆
As Fei and the others were about to leave Point Town for the capital, someone came running towards them. A maid with short red hair and beautiful yellow eyes.
Her curvaceous body jiggled as she ran. A stunningly beautiful maid with a bust size of 84. Sargento couldn’t help but stare at her bouncing chest. True didn’t react, and Fei didn’t even look back.
“Mai!?”
“Miss, Mai will go with you.”
“But…”
“I have permission. From now on, I’ll be with you.”
“…Really?”
“Yes.”
“Yay!”
Yururu’s jewel-like eyes sparkled with joy. Mai, who also adored Yururu, smiled gently.
“Please take care of me, Fei.”
“That’s not my intention.”
“…I see.”
“Ah, Mai, Fei isn’t a bad person, he’s just misunderstood…”
“I understand, miss.”
Mai’s demeanor showed she understood and accepted everything. Yururu felt relieved that Fei wasn’t misunderstood by her dear friend.
(At first, a bit of tension is just right. If they get along too well from the start, the story ends too quickly. As a romance novel protagonist, Mai knows this. Gradually increasing favorability until it’s just the two of them at the end.)
Mai smirked inwardly. A maid mistaking herself for the protagonist of a romance novel, aiming to steal the heart of her former master’s love interest.
(I mustn’t! Mai is a maid! The mistress’s happiness comes first! But, madam said to find my own happiness! What should I do!!)
(Mai is so mature… I wonder what she thinks about… I want to be as attractive as Mai. Then Fei might…)
(Why does Fei get greeted by such a cute maid!? It’s annoying!!)
(Who was that again… I forgot.)
(I’m not strong enough yet… Fei… I need to get stronger…)
(Is dinner going to be ham and lettuce sandwiches?)
No one knew what the others were thinking. Everyone was preoccupied with their own thoughts. With this, the encounter with Mordred ended, and an important event concluded. The story might accelerate from here.
Originally, it should have been a heavy atmosphere with tragic events and gruesome scenes. Yet, the mood was lightened, possibly because of Fei. His constant forward-looking attitude might have inspired everyone else to do the same.
──Next time, the gods discuss Fei and his companions.
