“Expect great things from your math grade this semester!”
This teacher’s way too easy to fool, the students all silently agreed.
Even classmates who rarely interacted with Kai couldn’t help but notice how off he seemed today.
While it might look like he’s just buttering up the teacher, there’s clearly something deeper going on with him.
“Phew, managed to solve it. Gotta keep improving.”
Kai himself remained unfazed, completely oblivious to the weird atmosphere.
Instead of gloating over solving the problem, his humble determination moved the teacher to tears—again.
That’s how class went, and soon, break time arrived.
As the teacher left and the classroom erupted in noise, Kai stepped out into the hallway, heading for the restroom.
On his way back, someone called out to him.
“Kai-kun.”
“Hm? That voice… Saika?”
“Y-yeah… Wait, huh?”
Like Matsuri earlier, Saika tilted her head, puzzled by Kai’s behavior.
The more someone knew him, the clearer his odd shift became.
“Why the intense stare? Not that I mind being looked at by a beauty like you, but it’s kinda making me nervous.”
“Ah, um…”
Even Saika, usually expressionless, couldn’t help but blush when called a “beauty” so directly.
Seeing her flustered face, Kai suddenly crossed his arms.
“Kai-kun?”
“Hmm…”
Saika’s cheeks stayed red,
but her confusion grew as Kai pondered under her gaze before finally speaking.
“This happened with Matsuri too… but at this point, I don’t look like a cool guy—just a tryhard show-off. Hah, took me a while to realize.”
“Umm… what’s really going on with you?”
“Ah, nothing. Sorry for stopping you… Let’s talk again later, okay?”
“Eh? O-okay… Feel free to call me anytime! I’ll reach out too… I wanna talk, and I wanna be with you.”
“Thanks.”
“……!”
With that, Kai headed back to class, leaving Saika behind.
Now then… the reason for Kai’s bizarre behavior had already been revealed—this was the result of his self-hypnosis to “act like a handsome guy for a day.”
Whether this actually counted as “handsome guy behavior” was debatable, but judging by Matsuri and Saika’s reactions, it was working—albeit weirdly.
“Alright, gotta focus on the next class.”
Eyes still followed Kai as he returned, proof of how much attention he’d drawn today.
The rest of class passed uneventfully, with Kai avoiding being called on… but his “normal” self returned the moment lunch break started, right after finishing his meal.

“…Huh?”
A confused sound escaped me.
In my hands was an empty lunchbox—I didn’t remember eating, but apparently, I’d already finished the meal Mom packed.
Looking around… I was in the classroom?
“…Huhhh?”
Weird… I was supposed to be at home.
I was at home, looking in the mirror… Wait, what was I trying to do? No, more importantly—why am I at school when I was just home, and why is it already lunchtime?!
“…??”
…This is terrifying.
Unable to stay still, I left the classroom and wandered the halls.
“What the hell… is happening?”
I pulled out my phone, but for some reason, the battery was dead.
Wondering if this was just a bad dream, I kept walking aimlessly… and somehow ended up on the second floor.
“Oh? Kai-senpai?”
“Emu?”
She was standing right by the stairs.
Come to think of it, I called her here the other day too. Seeing her now calmed me down a little.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing much. More importantly, what about you?”
“No reason, really. Just finished talking with a friend.”
“I see…”
“But really, senpai, what’s up?”
“…Ahh.”
I hesitated on how to explain, but soon stopped caring.
Maybe it was because I’d relaxed, or maybe I just didn’t want to worry Emu.
“…Pfft.”
“Senpai?”
“Ah, sorry—just seeing your face cheered me up.”
“…Eh?”
“Nah, I’ve been kinda spacey. Maybe I’m just tired… But seriously, your face really helped. Thanks!”
“Y-yes!”
I turned away from her bright response.
(No clue what’s going on… but if my phone’s dead, I can’t even schedule hypnosis sessions!)
There were probably bigger concerns, but to me, losing my “tool” for flirting was a crisis.
Calling Matsuri and the others during lunch to enjoy their softness… That’s my daily motivation—hell, it’s practically the only reason I push through life!
“…Sigh, no use complaining… right?”
Then, I paused, tilting my head.
Though my memory was foggy, the confusion suddenly cleared like a storm blowing away mist—and everything came rushing back.
“…A… AAAAAAAAAH!!”

My sudden shout made a nearby girl jump back before quickly scurrying away.
I clutched my head—yep, I definitely just cemented my reputation as “that weird guy.”
“But whatever… Well, not whatever, but—did my self-hypnosis actually work?!”
Even though I remembered, it was only up to the morning.
My last memory was ordering my reflection to “act like a handsome guy for a day.” No memories after that, plus my dead phone… The answer was obvious.
“…I remember nothing.”
Again, I only recalled giving the command.I had zero memory of coming to school or anything after… If “hypnotized me” did something embarrassing in class… Just the thought terrified me—ugh, I really don’t wanna go back.
“Kai-kun?”
“GWAH!?”
A hand tapped my shoulder, and I let out a weird yelp.
Lost in thought, I spun around to find… Matsuri.
“Matsuri…?”
“Y-yeah… You okay?”
Despite my odd scream, she looked genuinely worried.
Her concern warmed my heart, but more than anything, I needed to ask about my earlier behavior.
“Matsuri, free right now?”
“Totally free!”
“Then, could you come with me to an empty classroom?”
“Sure, but… just us two?”
“Yeah, just us. Please.”
“O-okay!”
There was still time before lunch ended.
As we walked, I felt tons of stares—more than usual. And weirdly, they seemed aimed at me, not just because I was with Matsuri… What the hell did I do?!
“…Alright.”
We reached the empty classroom—a place I’d grown way too familiar with.
Come to think of it, was this the first time I’d brought someone here just as myself? And the fact that it’s Matsuri feels kinda fateful… but right now, I need answers!
“Matsuri!”
“Y-yes!”
In my desperation, I grabbed her shoulders.
I didn’t think I was rough, but she still flinched, so I quickly let go.
“S-sorry…”
“N-no, it’s fine! Is this… something important?”
“Yeah. Super important.”
“…Okay. I’ll listen.”
Matsuri… You’re the best.
The air turned serious, but… well, I am dead serious about figuring this out, so it fits.
“This might sound weird, but… did you see me today?”
“Yeah, the whole time. From morning till now, I’ve been watching you.”
She took a step closer as she spoke.
Her smooth, well-kept hair swayed, carrying a faint sweet scent. And from this close, the gap in her uniform’s chest area was… ahem—
Not that seeing it in dreams or touching it isn’t amazing, but this kind of subtle peek is its own kind of bliss.
“…Ahem!”
I cleared my throat and got to the point.
“This might sound strange, but… did I seem off today?”
“…Huh?”
My question left Matsuri blinking in confusion.
“O-oh, that’s what you meant… Haha, silly me!”
“Matsuri?”
“S-sorry! I jumped to conclusions… Wait, you’re back to normal now!”
Then, this time, Matsuri grabbed my shoulder.
But it wasn’t just a simple grab—she shook me so hard I rattled. Proof that to Matsuri, I must’ve seemed like some weird guy with no memory… Wait, she did say I was back to normal, though!
“Um… Could you tell me what I was like?”
And so, she filled me in on how I’d been acting since coming to school.
Even though my question must’ve sounded bizarre to her, she answered with endless kindness and patience… and the result left me drowning in shame, wishing I could just die.
“Ugh… What the hell… That’s not me…”
Apparently, I’d been spouting embarrassing, cringey lines—stuff like buttering up teachers during class with disgustingly sweet words—completely unlike my usual self.
“B-but! Nobody minded! Even the teacher looked really happy!”
“……………”
“The whole class was shocked, but… nobody was upset or anything! So at least you don’t have to worry about that!”
“…Yeah.”
Like hell I couldn’t worry… Still, I was glad Matsuri tried to comfort me.
It was my own damn fault to begin with. If anyone was to blame, it was me… Well, at least I didn’t cause any real trouble, so maybe I could relax a little.
“Uh… Kai-kun!”
“Huh…!?”
