Fantasy Galaxy Volume 1 Chapter 4 part 8

“What just happened?”

I rolled on the ground, confused.

“Watch out! That’s a Fairy Arm!”

Regina’s voice reached me. A Fairy Arm… a mage’s weapon. It had pierced my particle armor and slashed my shoulder. Blood was flowing from the wound, and I could feel its power. It was a weapon said to be freely controlled by Heavenly wave, but its power sent a chill down my spine. I hastily fired a particle round at Zedeggar. It didn’t hit him, but it struck the ground nearby, causing an explosion. The blast sent him flying, but Zedeggar was unharmed. Was he wearing particle armor too?

I decided survival was the priority. I signaled to Regina and summoned a hoverbike from my Dimensional Bracelet. We both hopped on, with Regina taking the controls since she had better eyesight. The sky above was dangerous due to the drifting webs of the Web-Casting Spiders, but I thought Zedeggar was more of a threat.

“Zedeggar’s following us!”

I shouted as Regina glanced back while piloting the hoverbike. Looking behind us, I saw Zedeggar on a similar hoverbike chasing us. He used his Fairy Arm again. A dagger-like weapon flew at an invisible speed and pierced part of our hoverbike. A violent tremor shook the bike, and it began to lose altitude, descending toward the ground. As we fell, I spotted a building in the distance. Probably a Dragon Hunter Guild research facility or something. We descended toward it and landed nearby. Zedeggar circled around and landed in front of us. He must have thought we were trying to escape into the building.

“Did you think you could get away?”

Zedeggar sneered as he approached, holding what appeared to be a Fairy Arm dagger. I remembered that one of the Heavenly Clan’s treasures was called the Soaring Strike Dagger. Was this the same kind of weapon?

Regina charged at him, holding her Lance Driver.

“Don’t!”

I shouted, thinking it was too dangerous to face Zedeggar with a Fairy Arm. But it was too late. Zedeggar fired the dagger. At the same time, Regina leaped to the side. She seemed to be trying to dodge the dagger and close in on Zedeggar to attack.

However, the flying dagger was faster than Regina anticipated. Before she could fully dodge, it pierced her right thigh, then U-turned and returned to Zedeggar’s hand. Regina collapsed, blood gushing from the wound.

[You bastard!]

I lost myself to anger and shouted in Japanese without thinking.

“I don’t know what you’re saying, but it’s over. Just die.”

As my particle armor regenerated, the Fairy Arm in Zedeggar’s hand vanished. In that instant, I leaped backward at an angle and prepared to unleash the Enhanced Particle Circular Blade. The fifth-tier mage technique, Enhanced Particle Circular Blade, took a moment to activate.

Before I could release it, the dagger hit my particle armor, sending a shockwave through my body. The armor was pierced, but since I’d leaped back at an angle, the dagger only grazed my chest. The wound was shallow, just a scratch. I didn’t feel any pain in that moment, so I unleashed the Enhanced Particle Circular Blade. Zedeggar seemed to sense something and tried to dodge. But at this distance, there was no way he could avoid it. The blade sliced through Zedeggar’s particle armor, cutting him in half vertically. Not only that, but it also sliced through the Dragon Hunter Guild building behind him.

“Ah…”

I saw the upper part of the building collapse. All I could do was pray there were no casualties. Confirming Zedeggar’s death, I collapsed. What I thought was a scratch turned out to be a deeper cut.

“Zen!”

Regina got up and limped over, pulling out a first aid kit from her pouch and starting to treat me. Thanks to her, the bleeding stopped. I managed to get up and pulled out a proper first aid kit from my Dimensional Pendant to treat Regina, who seemed more seriously injured than me. The kit contained anesthesia, disinfectant, hemostatic agents, sutures, and medicine to boost self-healing, along with medical equipment. After the treatment, we both sighed in relief.

“That was rough.”

“But we survived. Lucky us.”

Regina stood up, limped over to Zedeggar, and collected his belongings. Among them were a Dimensional Pendant, the Fairy Arm dagger, and a bracelet. Just then, a car emerged from the Dragon Hunter Guild research facility and stopped nearby. It seemed to be the facility’s security.

“What happened?”

A Werecat security guard asked. Regina took the lead in explaining. After that, we were transported to Elevator Town by a Dragon Hunter Guild aircraft and admitted to the hospital there. While resting in the hospital room, Director Dessero visited, and I explained the situation again.

“I understand the situation. I get that Zedeggar was the cause. But the fact remains that Zen destroyed the research facility and injured several staff members. Taking the circumstances into account, I’m demoting you by one rank as punishment.”

“What…?”

“If it weren’t for Zedeggar being the cause, you’d have had your Dragon Hunter license revoked.”

When Zedeggar destroyed the facility, he got two months of confinement. This time, it felt harsher, but the reason seemed to be that Zedeggar’s case didn’t involve injuries, while mine did.

“But because of Zedeggar, the Black Beast Wulfado was released.”

Director Dessero shrugged.

“Thanks to your actions, there were no casualties.”

I couldn’t accept it, but when told it was the Dragon Hunter Guild’s rule, I had no choice but to comply. And so, I was demoted from Rank C to Rank D. The phrase “An unjust law is still a law” by Socrates came to mind.

However, as bad as some things were, there were also good things. What Regina had recovered from Zedeggar now belonged to us. We requested the guild to handle the security unlock of the Dimensional Pendant and to investigate the dagger and bracelet. On the day I was discharged from the hospital, we received word that the results were ready, so Regina and I headed to the Dragon Hunter Mercenary Guild. The one who explained everything to us was Ruzik, a subordinate of the Center Director.

“The security on the Dimensional Pendant has been successfully removed. Inside, we found a lot of food, water, camping gear, and a few Dragon Jewels,” Ruzik explained.

Those Dragon Jewels were said to be worth around ten billion crebits.

“Additionally, the dagger and bracelet are Fairy Items.”

Fairy Items are magical artifacts created using Dragon Jewels as their core components. Among them, weapons are referred to as Fairy Arms. The dagger was confirmed to be what’s called the “Soaring Strike Dagger.” As for the bracelet, it’s known as the “Armor Bracelet,” and it was discovered to have the ability to equip the user with something similar to particle armor.

After parting ways with Ruzik, Regina and I borrowed a meeting room at the Dragon Hunter Mercenary Guild to discuss the distribution of the items. We decided that Regina would take the Dimensional Pendant and its contents, as well as the Armor Bracelet, while I would take the Soaring Strike Dagger. Separately, I offered to give Regina a portion of the money from selling the Dragon Gem of the Mother Queen Spider, but she firmly refused. Given that the most valuable item among these was the Soaring Strike Dagger, I wasn’t at a disadvantage. By the way, the Armor Bracelet can’t be used by someone without Bosol sensitivity, but Regina has a weak Bosol sensitivity, so she can use it.

Both the Armor Bracelet and the Soaring Strike Dagger had security measures in place, but they seemed to have been deactivated the moment Zedeggar died. Regina and I registered our brainwaves with the Armor Bracelet and the Soaring Strike Dagger to make them exclusive to us. At that moment, the method of using the Soaring Strike Dagger flowed into my mind. Zedeggar had always fired the dagger while holding it in his hand, but why? I asked Regina about it.

“Zedeggar’s Bosol sensitivity was probably weak, just like mine. That’s why he couldn’t control the Soaring Strike Dagger when it was away from his body,” she explained.

I see, so his Bosol sensitivity was weak. I infused the Soaring Strike Dagger with Heavenly wave energy and then tossed it into the air. It hovered in place before slowly beginning to orbit around me. I could feel a connection between my consciousness field and the dagger, allowing me to control it completely. To my surprise, I realized that the Soaring Strike Dagger’s true power was far greater than what Zedeggar had demonstrated. Because of his weak Bosol sensitivity, he couldn’t access the Nayuta Realm and could only absorb the faint traces of Heavenly wave energy present in the atmosphere to operate it. While I still don’t know the full extent of the Soaring Strike Dagger’s power, I could imagine it was something extraordinary.

  1. Question… where’s part seven? Novelupdates shows that the chapter before this one was part six, so I’m just wondering if you skipped a part by accident.
