Found Out My Secret Volume 1 Chapter 2 part 1

Chapter 2: Why Did the Heroines Become Yandere?

“Here, Satoshi-kun. Say ahh~”

Seeing Satsuki with a smile as radiant as cherry blossoms in full bloom, trying to feed me some apple slices, I felt my cheek twitch.

“Could it be you’re not in the mood for apples right now? Did I mess up? In that case, I brought lots of other things, so if there’s anything you want to eat, just tell me, okay?”

One of Saionji Satsuki’s charms is her natural, headstrong personality, but when you’re actually on the receiving end of it, the embarrassment outweighs any happiness.

“Um, I can eat by myself…”

“No way! Satoshi-kun, you’re still a patient. The doctor said you need complete bed rest, didn’t he?”

“No, that was only right after I woke up. My body’s healed up quite a bit now. I feel bad making you go through all this trouble, Satsuki…”

There’s still pain when I move my body, but I’ve become much more mobile. I’m starting to get tired of just lying in bed.

In other words, what I’m trying to say is—I’m fine eating on my own now.

“So then… you don’t need me anymore…?”

“Huh? No, that’s not what I—”

“I’m no longer useful to you…”

What I meant was that since my body had recovered enough to move, there was no need to trouble Satsuki anymore. Maybe I didn’t communicate that properly.

“Look, my body can move pretty well now, right? So I’m already—ugh!”

I tried to move my body to reassure her I was okay, but the area I forced to move started hurting.

“See. You’re clearly not okay yet, and you’re pushing yourself. And yet, you don’t need me anymore.

Hehe, if even my benefactor doesn’t need me, what am I even living for…?”

Satsuki gripped her skirt tightly and looked down.

“I’m useless, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”

Then she started muttering apologies like a curse, becoming like an emotionless machine.

This is way too heavy!?

“Satsuki!”

“Ah, sorry. Someone gloomy and useless like me just makes the atmosphere worse, right? I’ll never come here again—”

This is not okay at all!?

With the light gone from her eyes, Satsuki stood up from her chair, and I grabbed her arm with my left hand. She looked at me with a creaking motion. If I say the wrong thing here, it’s over.

“N-no, no! I’ve been grateful to you this whole time, Satsuki!”

She reacted with a twitch. Good, she’s at least willing to listen.

“I just acted tough because I wanted to put my benefactor at ease, even a little.”

“…Really?”

“I’m a guy, after all. I want to show off in front of a cute girl. Well, I guess I was too beaten up to even show off properly…”

This is my honest truth. Up until a moment ago, I was so bored lying in bed that I wanted to move around, but now I understand I’m still not ready.

“So I still need Satsuki to help me… I think. I’m sorry about that.”

“…No. I’m sorry. I misunderstood. You’re right. You’re a guy, after all.”

Good. The light returned to Satsuki’s eyes. The hospital room even seemed a bit brighter somehow. Then, she gently wrapped both hands around my left hand.

“I’m happy you called me your benefactor, you know? But to me, Satoshi-kun, you’re my savior.

Just helping and taking care of you isn’t nearly enough to repay you. So I’ll spend [my whole life] repaying you, and please let me stay by your side as long as you don’t consider me useless…”

“Ah, yeah. Thanks.”

“Yes! Ehehe.”

So that’s way too heavy!? What do you mean, your whole life!?

Satsuki was showing me an innocent smile, but an unpleasant cold sweat ran down my spine. I absolutely must not let her notice.

“Well then, let me feed you the apple, okay? Here, say ahh~”

Saying that, she held out an apple piece on a toothpick toward me. Naturally, I have no choice but to accept.

“A-ahh~”

This is so embarrassing!?

No matter how many times she does this, I can’t get used to it.

“H-how is it? Is it delicious?”

Satsuki looked at me anxiously. That upward gaze is against the rules. My heart was captured by that scene I’d seen so many times in the game.

“…Yeah, it’s delicious.”

“That’s great! Ehehe.”

She’s so cute, maybe I don’t care anymore. The taste was about a hundred times sweeter than usual too.

After that, I chatted with Satsuki. Though really, it was just me saying “uh-huh, uh-huh” while listening to Satsuki talk.

About how the photoshoot went, how she’s looking forward to university, she happily talked about her daily life.

This is it, this is what I wanted.

I played [LoD] because I loved seeing Satsuki talk so happily about these mundane changes. I definitely didn’t play it to see her fall into darkness.

“The protagonist is so unfair…”

“──”

I found myself envying the position of [LoD]’s protagonist, Sano. He’s liked by such a cute girl. And there are four of them. I really do want him to die.

“Hey…”

“Hm? Ah, sorry. I was lost in thought.”

If she was saying something, I apologize. I genuinely wasn’t listening, so I apologized honestly.

“No, don’t worry about it. Satoshi-kun, what do you think of ‘Sano Yuuto’…?”

“Sano?”

I don’t understand the intent of this question.

I’m set up to have almost no connection with Sano Yuuto. So it would be strange if I knew about him in detail. I decided to just stick to safe, innocuous conversation.

“I’ve never really interacted with him directly, so I don’t know much. But he was famous at school.

Rumor has it he won over all four of our [Four Beauties].”

“…”

The [Four Beauties] is the collective term for the heroines of [LoD]. Like Saionji Satsuki, they each have a kanji character for north, south, east, or west in their surnames, which is why they’re called that.

But why did she suddenly bring up Sano…? Ah, I see now.

I read somewhere in a book that girls like talking about romance. This must be a sign that she wants to have that kind of conversation.

Even after what happened, she still likes Sano.

In that case, being considerate and making it easier for her to talk about it would be the gentlemanly thing to do.

“Well, I only saw him a few times in high school, but I could tell Sano’s a good guy… He’s kind, and a good person.”

Even I know that was terrible at praising him.

Please forgive me for this. He’s the protagonist who led us to a bad ending, so I have nothing but resentment for him, not gratitude. Praising someone you hate is actually pretty difficult.

But still, I think I gave her a good opening. With Satsuki’s personality, she should start talking eagerly about the person she likes. I’ll listen while crying tears of blood—wait, something’s off about Satsuki?

“What’s wrong?”

“Hey. Do you really think of ‘Sano Yuuto’ that way…?”

It was a clinging gaze. It felt like it contained a plea for me not to lie.

“Yeah, I do think that.”

But I lied anyway. There’s no point in saying I hate him. However, I noticed that I unconsciously averted my eyes from Satsuki’s gaze, so I decided to start rattling off words.

“W-well, I only know him from rumors, but I heard that Sano likes you, Satsuki—” “Stop it.” “…Huh?”

A sharp, knife-like rejection was thrown at me. When I looked at Satsuki, she was smiling expressionlessly.

“I don’t like Sano Yuuto one bit.”

“Huh… but…”

That’s pushing it. I mean, you even confessed to him.

Then Satsuki moved to my right side and began touching my right arm. Since I can’t feel anything there, I can’t enjoy the sensation, but questions win out over excitement at this abnormal behavior.

“I did like him once… We were childhood friends, and for the longest time…”

She told me as if letting it spill out drop by drop.

“I started doing gravure idol work, worked hard at cooking even though I’m bad at it, got into the same high school—all of it was because I wanted to be with that guy, Yuuto…”

I remember that setting well from playing the game. Frustrated that no matter how much she appealed to him, Sano wouldn’t respond, Satsuki tried to get his attention by becoming famous.

It’s a clumsy way of thinking, but I was a fan of Satsuki because she worked so hard and single-mindedly like that.

“But you know, that wasn’t my own will.”

“What?”

Did I mishear…?

When I tried to ask what she meant, she had a contemptuous expression on her face, which sent a chill through me. This wasn’t the yandere expression I’d seen before. It was disgust showing for something that should be spat upon. I couldn’t feel it, but it seemed like tremendous force was being applied to my right arm that she was holding.

Noticing my gaze, Satsuki immediately smiled.

“Ah, sorry. What I’m trying to say is, I used to like him, but now I only think of that guy as a piece of shit scumbag. I never want to talk to him again, and just imagining it makes me want to vomit.”

“O-oh, I see.”

Thinking about it, he made the worst proposal to become friends with benefits. Of course she’d lose all affection for him.

“Yeah. Sorry, okay? For talking about trash like that.”

“No, it’s fine. Sometimes it’s good to get things off your chest.”

“You’re so kind… Satoshi-kun is.”

Satsuki lifted my right hand and pressed it against her cheek. Then she made an enraptured expression and rubbed her cheek against it. She had enough sensuality that I thought she might lick it next.

“…I can only see you now. Let’s stay together forever, okay?”

“Y-yeah.”

With flushed cheeks and an unknowable smile, all I could do was give Satsuki an ambiguous response.
