Misunderstood Saintly Life Volume 5 Chapter 4 part 5

“[How typical of the loser to rant…! Fine, I’ll send you to join them!]”

Gauss charged first, drawing Flone’s attention.

She wouldn’t take her eyes off me, but I couldn’t let her think too much.

“[Burn to ashes! [Annihilation Breath]!!]”

“[How poetic—to die by your own kin’s technique! [Annihilation Breath]!]”

“[Grrrr…! Not… yet…!!]”

“[Tch! Why won’t you just die already!?]”

While they clashed, I closed the distance.

Flone had gained new power by controlling the power of the dragon.

Now, I’d use everything I had—

My greatest weapon wasn’t [Magic Burial] or [Limit Break: Gear Change]. It was the most precious thing in my life.

The mana stored in [Dragon Slaying Fist: True]—who did it belong to? Mashiro.

Then—!

“Don’t forget about me, Flone!”

“[I saw you skulking around, you little brat!]”

Unlike when we fought in mid-air, Floné doesn’t reach out her hand against me as I brandish my fist.

Instead of catching it, she should change her response depending on what attack method I choose.

—But, I wonder if this option was ever in your mind?

“[Frost Hurricane]!!!”

[What!? Magic!?]

What was infused into my [Dragon Slaying Fist – True] was Mashiro’s magical power, who has magical aptitude.

Magic is a supernatural phenomenon caused by giving magical power to spirits that exist in this world but cannot be seen.

The reason I have no magical aptitude is because there are no spirits that favor my magical power.

Then, if I use magical power that spirits like……? This is how even I can use magic……!

[Aaaaaah!?]

Floné, who was expecting a physical attack, takes a direct hit and tumbles over multiple times.

The option of magic was completely off the table because her opponent was me.

If asked why I never thought of this before, it’s because the premise and fixed notion that I can’t use magic was deeply rooted in me.

There is no history of people without magical aptitude being able to use magic.

That common sense is even more ingrained in Floné who has lived decades longer than me!

[Someone without magical aptitude…… a loser from birth……!]

The power of the [Frost Hurricane] that hit at point-blank range where my fist could reach was tremendous, crackling as it took away part of Floné’s bodily freedom.

While on her knees, Floné slowly stands up again, but there is no light in her eyes. She’s driving a dead heart with decades of obsession. In other words, a living corpse.

That figure appeared terribly pitiful. It’s almost as if…….

“……Who’s the loser here, Floné?”

[What did you say……?]

“All you have left is…… your ugly self that is neither human nor dragon. Aren’t you the loser who continues to survive after losing your pride, dreams, and everything?”

It’s true that becoming a dragonoid increased her power. However, she’s about to be defeated by us.

Having lost her guiding principles, what value is there in further sacrifices?

What she’s doing is just selfishness.

What I despise most…… a third-rate villain who simply spews out desires.

Floné and I are no longer standing on the same stage.

“We certainly have our beliefs. Solid convictions that differ from yours.”

[I have beliefs too! Things I’ve been pursuing for a very long time! Don’t act like you understand……!]

“I’m saying this because I do understand. In your future…… only destruction remains.”

Saying that, I readied my fist.

A fist containing the feelings of Mashiro and Gauss.

“With my fist, I’ll deliver the final blow to the evil that is you!”

[I will…… I will start over from the beginning! Just like in those days when I shined the brightest!

Flone lunged forward, slashing with the claws extending from her hand, challenging me to close combat.

As expected, she’s able to fully demonstrate her strength in her dragon form, with a reach far greater than her original body.

Her sharp, precise movements make it easy to see why she once gained great fame on the battlefield. If it weren’t for the effects of the [Frost Hurricane], I would’ve had a much harder time.

But the real misfortune for her was this—The one who trained me in real combat was a swordswoman with strength equal to hers.

“I’m already used to this speed! [Limit Break Gear-Change]!”

I hardened my fist with [Limit Break Gear-Change] and blocked her claw attack with the [True Dragon Slaying Fist], then drove my left fist into her wide-open flank.

“Guh…!?”

Flone’s face twisted in pain. Saliva and blood spilled from her mouth, staining the ground.

I spun my body in place to build momentum, and slammed a backfist into her now defenseless face.

“I lost!?”

She crumpled to the ground, covered in dirt, and barely managed to get up, gasping for breath.

Her eyes, filled with hatred and murderous intent, now burned more fiercely than before.

Because she had finally found a simple, clear goal—to kill me.

“Don’t screw with me… this… this can’t be happening…!”

“…From the beginning. You were wrong from the start, Flone.”

“From the start…? What do you know about my life…?”

“I do know. The result of the life you’ve lived… is exactly what stands between us right now.”

Flone dropped to her knees, looking up at me from below, while I stood tall and looked down at her.

Lacking the strong trunk of conviction to support herself, she had nothing to lean on in her moment of crisis.

“For the sake of a third-rate like you, I’ll spell it out. At least in your next life, remember this and live by it.”

“…! [Cataclysmic Breath of the End-Death]!”

She unleashed [Cataclysmic Breath of the End-Death], the feared attack said to have destroyed countless villages, the strongest weapon of the Magic Dragon.

Even though I could’ve dodged it, I chose to confront it head-on—and broke through it with [Magic Burial], standing tall before Flone once more.

But Flone knew the inner workings of [Magic Burial].
She wouldn’t make the mistake of using that weak [Cataclysmic Breath of the End-Death] as her true trump card.

That was just a bluff. Her real finisher had to be [World-Ender: World is Mine], which had definitely affected me before!

“Wor…ld… Is… M──”

“My hope will no longer be swallowed by that darkness!!”

“Guh!?”

I smashed my fist into the darkness spreading from her outstretched hand and snuffed it out.

Flone was in no shape to defend herself—she couldn’t even guard.

Carrying the hopes of everyone who wished for victory, my fist plunged into her chest.

“You and I are the same in essence—We chase our dreams, wield overwhelming power, and do whatever we please. But the one difference was—I had conviction, and you had none!!”

I pulled my fist far back to my waist, then drove it upward into her jaw.

The Three Precepts of Evil I vowed to live by in this world—

“One! Live true to your beliefs without compromise.”

Right now, Flone had chosen life by bending her own beliefs.

“Two! Neglect no effort to polish your charm!”

Flone had always overestimated herself.

“Three! Let no one decide your future but you!”

“Gaaahhhhhh!!”

Three fierce blows drilled into her like muscle memory.

Her exhaustion was now plain as day—Flone had no path left to victory.Even so, she refused to fall to her knees and tried to face me again.

Was it her lingering regrets for this life that kept her standing?

“If it weren’t for you… if you hadn’t been there, everything would’ve gone perfectly..It’s all your fault…!”

“……[Limit Break Gear-Change – Steel].”

I focused all the remaining magic in my body into my right arm.

This would be the final blow—the true end of our battle.

“The path you chose, the life you walked—that’s exactly why you lost, Flone-Milfonty!!”

“Damn it, damn it, damn iiiiiiit…Ouga-Velettttttt!!”

Flone swung a desperate, slow punch with all her remaining will—but my glowing red [True Dragon Slaying Fist], now like it once was in [Limit Break Gear-Change – Steel], caught her square in the face.

I heard the shattering sound of every bone in her face breaking.

“Uooooooooaaahhhh!!”

As if to release all the pain and resentment of those she had tormented, I let the full force of my soul explode through that final blow.

With no strength left even to support her own weight, Flone couldn’t resist.

She was slammed into the ground headfirst, her skull bouncing off the earth.Boom—the ground caved in.Flone now lay at the center of a web of cracks, her cheek marked with the imprint of my fist.

“Ahh… hhhk……”

Eyes rolled back and mouth bleeding, her body twitched like a fish thrown ashore.

And yet… her magical presence hadn’t disappeared.

If not for the toughness of a Magic Dragon’s body, she would’ve been finished for sure.

Her life now flickered like the flame of a dying candle. But she was still alive.

“…Even after all this, you’re still clinging to life.I’ll give you this, Flone—your tenacity is something to respect.”

If only that same stubborn passion had been aimed somewhere else—your life might’ve been different.

I brought down a precise hand chop to her neck, knocking her unconscious so I could safely restrain her.
