At the end, I bowed my head in apology for my earlier conduct. I knew it was improper for me to insert myself into Farah and Eltia’s mother-daughter relationship, but I could not simply leave it be. As I remained bowed, Eltia suddenly pulled me into an embrace. While my head was bowed, she had silently moved beside me. I was taken aback, needing a moment to realize she was embracing me.
“L-Lady Eltia? What’s wrong?”
Flustered, I ended up addressing her by her name rather than ‘Mother’. Still embracing me, she gently spoke.
“Your mother Lady Nunnally must be very proud of you, I’m sure. Please, have confidence.”
“Y-You think so…?”
“Yes. No mother would fail to be proud of having a child like you, Lord Reed. Please, keep your heart strong.”
“Thank you…very much.”
At that moment, I felt a warmth envelop the anxiety within me. And for some reason, tears naturally began welling up. Without a word, Eltia continued her gentle embrace until I stopped crying. It was a very tender, loving embrace, like my own mother used to give me.

“Lord Reed, my apologies. In considering Lady Nunnally’s feelings, I seem to have overstepped myself emotionally.”
“N-No, it’s alright. Thanks to you, Mother, I feel my heart has lightened somewhat.”
Eltia looked slightly flustered but cleared her throat and composed her expression with determination.
“I understand your feelings, Lord Reed. However, I have my own resolve and thoughts. I hope you can understand that.”
“Of course. Both Princess Farah and I believe you will share your thoughts with her and my mother-in-law someday. We will wait until that time comes,”
I said with a gentle smile. At that moment, Eltia showed a soft, tender smile unlike anything I had ever seen before.
“…Lord Reed, please take care of Farah.”
“Yes, I will make her happy, no matter what!”
After finishing my conversation with Eltia, I returned to Farah’s room with Nels, who had been waiting outside. I didn’t intend to tell Farah everything we talked about, but I did share one thing.
“I can’t go into details, but I told your mother that I would ensure your happiness.”
“What!? W-What does that mean?”
Farah’s face turned bright red, and her ears twitched nervously as she listened. Her reaction was so adorable that I found myself becoming a little addicted to seeing her like this.
Back in Farah’s room, I spent some pleasant time chatting with her and the others. When I asked about Farah’s daily schedule, I was shocked at how packed it was. Noticing my reaction, Farah smiled.
“Hehe, I’m used to it now. And sometimes, it’s even fun,” she said.
“Still, I think it’s amazing…”
Farah was incredibly knowledgeable about the cultures, etiquette, and history of both Renalute and the Empire. While I had regained memories from my previous life, which gave me an advantage, Farah had absorbed all this knowledge naturally and conducted herself with the poise of an adult. It made me realize that she truly was a remarkable young woman.
For the first time in a while, I enjoyed a peaceful moment. The journey from Baldia to Renalute had been difficult, but things became even more hectic after arriving. From the issues with Norris to the events involving the Rute grass, it had been nothing but a whirlwind. Reflecting on all that, I cherished this time of lighthearted conversation with Farah. After a while, a soldier’s voice echoed from outside the room.
“Excuse me. Lady Diana of the Baldia Knights has arrived. May I bring her in?”
“Yes, please,”
When Diana entered the room, Nels handed over his role as the guard to her and prepared to leave. Before he did, he muttered something only Diana could hear.
“Heh, did you enjoy your date with Reubens?”
“…Nels, I really don’t appreciate that side of you,”
After smirking slightly, Nels straightened his expression, bowed to us, and exited the room.
As he left, I greeted Diana with a smile.
“Welcome back. How was it?”
“…Why are you asking the same thing as Nels, Lord Reed? I find it rather unseemly,”
It seemed like there was some sort of misunderstanding.
“I just meant the state of the town and if you found any souvenirs,”
“Ah… I’m terribly sorry! Um, the town is lovely, and I’ve sent the souvenirs for Lady Nunnally and Lady Meldy to the guesthouse. Please check them later.”
It was rare to see Diana flustered. Farah and I exchanged amused smiles at her reaction. Farah then started asking Diana all sorts of questions about her childhood with Reubens and their experiences growing up together as childhood friends. Although a bit overwhelmed, Diana answered Farah’s inquiries with a mix of shyness and sincerity. Thus, the most peaceful time in recent days unfolded.

After spending time with Farah and the others, we returned to the guesthouse from the main residence. Shortly after arriving, Zack informed me that my father was calling for me. Without delay, I headed to the room where he was waiting. I knocked on the door, received permission to enter, and greeted him with a bow.
“I’m sorry to keep you waiting, Father. You wanted to see me?”
“You’ve returned. Come, sit down. Let’s talk for a bit,”
he said, motioning for me to sit on the sofa opposite him. Once I was seated, my father fixed his gaze on me and began to speak.
“This time, all necessary diplomatic matters have been handled. If nothing else arises, I plan to speak with King Elias and move up our departure. We could return as early as tomorrow or the day after. That said, Reed, what are your plans? Do you still have any business here?”
“Hmm…”
I closed my eyes and thought deeply, wondering if there was anything I had forgotten. Farah’s engagement, the Rute grass issue—everything necessary had been resolved. Even if something came up, Chris had already established a trade network, so things should be fine. Opening my eyes, I nodded and replied,
“Yes, I’ve completed all the essential tasks, so I’m ready to leave.”
“Good. One more thing—let me tell you in advance. As soon as I return to the Baldia territory, I plan to head straight to the imperial capital. I’ll report on the Renalute mission and expedite the process of your marriage to Princess Farah. The nobles in the capital can be troublesome, so we need to handle this quickly.”
The nobles in the imperial capital… In a way, I owed them for bringing Farah into my life, so I supposed I should feel grateful. Suddenly, I remembered something important and hurriedly informed my father.
“Father, my apologies. I don’t think it’ll be a problem, but I intend to bring some engineers into Baldia territory in the future.”
“Engineers? That’s news to me. Explain everything, including the background.”
“Yes, well, the truth is…”
I began explaining about the dwarven engineers, Elena and Alex. My father listened with great interest, and by the end, a smile spread across his face.
“Reed, you’ve done well. Dwarven engineers are highly sought after by every nation and territory. We must bring them to our domain. Tell them I’ll provide full support for their endeavors.”
“Thank you, Father,” I replied.
It seemed my father greatly valued the dwarves’ expertise, judging by his delighted expression. I recalled Chris mentioning how rare it was for dwarves to leave their homeland. Perhaps my father had been looking for dwarves himself. Our discussion continued for some time as we finalized various plans.
