Mob Villain In An Otome Game Volume 3 Chapter 23 part 2

So even Capella had someone he was interested in before. But with him living in Baldia territory going forward, will he be alright? Seeming to grasp my intention, Capella showed his awkward smile.

“Thank you for your concern. She ended up marrying someone else and has children, so there’s no issue on that front.”

“Ah, I see. Sorry for prying…”

I felt bad for asking something uncomfortable for him. However, he didn’t seem bothered at all as he continued speaking.

“No no, Lord Reed, please don’t worry about it. Actually, now that I mention it, perhaps I should look for a new encounter in this new land, shall we say?”

From his matter-of-fact delivery despite the awkward smile, he seemed to be speaking sincerely. At that moment, I noticed a group approaching us who were working, and felt a bit flustered. It was the royal family, including King Elias.

“Everyone, stop working for a moment. King Elias and the royal family have arrived!!”

At my voice echoing around, everyone working stopped what they were doing and hurriedly kneeled with their heads bowed. They had mentioned coming to see us off, but it didn’t seem necessary while we were working.

By the way, at this time, two unexpected guests snuck onto the wagon we were loading luggage into, but with everyone’s heads bowed, it seemed no one noticed.

Eventually, King Elias came up close and his powerful voice rang out.

“My apologies for the interruption while you work. Everyone, raise your heads and continue working. I’ve come to bid Lord Reed farewell.”

As the king finished speaking, everyone timidly raised their faces and began working again. Confirming this, King Elias continued.

“Sorry for disturbing you when you’re busy. Things have been hectic with your impending return to your country. I came early to bid you farewell.”

“Your Majesty Elias, thank you for taking the trouble to come see us off. I’ll go call my father now.”

With that, I started to leave to fetch my father, but King Elias stopped me. At the same time, he flashed a sly grin.

“No need, no need. I’ll go to Sir Reiner myself. Reed, you stay here with Farah. She seemed a bit down when she heard about your return to your country.”

“……!? Father, please don’t say such things in public…!”

Farah, flustered by King Elias’ teasing words, blushed slightly and looked embarrassed. But King Elias seemed to enjoy her reaction, smirking as he glanced back and forth between Farah and me.

“Ahaha…”

I could only respond with a wry smile at their exchange.

“Reed!”

Suddenly, someone called my name. I turned around to see Prince Raycis standing there. I tilted my head, wondering what was going on. Then I noticed he was holding a letter with great care, and an uneasy feeling washed over me. As I feared, he extended the letter to me and continued speaking.

“Please deliver this to Tia.”

“Ugh…”

I let out a groan of reluctance, my face and voice both reflecting my dismay. Seeing my reaction, Raycis frowned slightly and continued.

“…There’s no need to look so displeased. If you marry Farah, I’ll become your brother, you know. Consider this a request from your future brother. Please, my dear little brother.”

Didn’t he initially say he wouldn’t acknowledge me at all? And now he’s using me as his errand boy? I almost let my frustration slip out but swallowed the words. Reluctantly, I took the letter from him.

It might be a little cruel, but I’ll just tell him later that this ‘Tia’ person doesn’t exist and return the letter. At that moment, Farah hesitantly handed me another letter.

“…Um, Reed, do you dislike receiving letters?”

“What!? No, no, not at all! I’m really happy to get a letter from you, Farah. But… five letters is a lot. Is there a specific order I should read them in?”

I was surprised to find she had written me five letters. Farah noticed the change in my expression and giggled softly.

“Lord Reed, please check the sender and recipient names carefully. Three of these are from me to you, Lady Mel, and Lady Nunnaly. The remaining two are for Lady Nunnaly, from my mother and Queen Liesel.”

“Oh, you’re right. I’m sure Mel and Mother will be thrilled. Thank you, Farah. Please thank Lady Eltia and Queen Liesel as well. I’ll make sure these reach Mother.”

I thanked Farah and then turned to Lady Eltia and Queen Liesel, bowing to express my gratitude. They responded with warm smiles. Seeing this, Farah blushed a little and added shyly,

“…Um, as for my letter to you, Reed, I’d appreciate it if you could read it once you’ve returned to your estate.”

“Ah… sure. I’ll look forward to it. I’ll write you a letter when I get back, too.”

“Thank you. I’ll eagerly await it.”

As Farah and I continued our pleasant conversation, a somewhat sharp voice called out behind me.

“Reed, your attitude toward Farah and me when it comes to letters seems quite different, doesn’t it?”

Uh-oh. I turned around reluctantly, only to see Prince Raycis standing there, exuding a heavy aura. It seemed he wasn’t pleased with how I treated Farah versus him. Well, of course, I’d treat them differently! But I couldn’t say that out loud. Instead, I tried to placate him while continuing the conversation.

As I spoke with him, my eyes happened to catch Capella bowing to Lady Eltia and Queen Liesel, greeting them politely. Both women seemed surprised and a bit bewildered by his presence. Could it be that he knew them?

“Reed!? Are you listening?”

“Oh, sorry. What was that again?”

Distracted by Capella’s movements, I hadn’t been listening to Raycis at all. This only served to annoy him further. After spending some time smoothing things over with him, my father approached us.

“Reed, everything’s ready. Are you all set?”

“Yes, Father, I’m fine.”

I nodded at my father’s words. It was finally time to bid farewell to Renalute. I walked over to Farah and spoke to her gently.

“Well then, Farah. Next time I come, it won’t just be to visit you like this.”

“Um, what do you mean?”

“Heh, next time, I’ll be coming to take you home with me. So look forward to it.”

“…!? Y-Yes…”

Farah nodded, her cheeks flushed as her ears twitched slightly. Lady Eltia, Queen Liesel, and Asna smiled warmly at our exchange. Shortly after, Diana, who had been observing us, let out a small sigh and muttered.

“Where does Reed come up with such words… It’s terrifying. Please don’t ever say something like that to anyone other than Princess Farah.”

“Huh? Uh, okay. I won’t.”

Though I didn’t quite understand what she meant, I nodded in agreement. Diana sighed again, seemingly exasperated. I was still confused.

After saying our goodbyes, we boarded the carriage and left Renalute, heading back to our estate. Naturally, the merchants from the Christy Trading Company were traveling with us.

And so, my visit to the Kingdom of Renalute came to an end. However, there was still much to be done. As I gazed at the castle of Renalute fading into the distance, I thought about tackling the next set of challenges upon my return to the Baldia estate.

“Lord Reed…”

Even after Elias, Eltia, and the others had left, Farah stayed until the carriage carrying Reed disappeared completely. She and Asna were the only ones who remained. Just then, a gentle and calm voice called out to them from behind.

“My, Lord Reed has truly achieved a remarkable victory in this country.”

“…!? Lord Zack…”

Startled by the sudden voice, Farah turned to see a familiar figure. Standing there was none other than [Zack Riverton], who shared blood ties with her mother, Lady Eltia. He stood quietly, exuding an air of kindness.

Asna seemed to recognize him but refrained from interrupting. Farah was curious about what Zack meant by “remarkable victory.” Unable to resist, she asked him directly.

“Lord Zack, if I may ask, by ‘remarkable victory,’ are you referring to Norris or the duel?”

“What Lord Reed has won… Princess Farah, you don’t know?”

“…?”

Farah tilted her head in confusion, unable to grasp his meaning. Zack gave her a gentle smile.

“Reed’s remarkable victory… is none other than winning your heart, Princess Farah.”

“…!?”

Farah’s face turned crimson as she averted her gaze and lowered her head. Seeing her reaction, Zack smiled warmly like a benevolent elder and then left. After he was gone, Farah raised her head again, looking once more at the path Reed’s carriage had taken.
