Strongest in the Supernatural School Volume 4 Chapter 1 Part 1

Chapter 1: It’s Summer Vacation, Everyone Assemble!

A whole month had already passed since the battle with Shinzaki.

Even though it was spring just the other day, before I knew it, it was already mid-July.

The intense heat of midsummer roasted my skin, and even now, buckets of sweat were streaming down the inside of my shirt.

I feel like it’s been quite a while since we switched to summer uniforms.

By the way, why on earth does this classroom not have an AC?

Do they not know the despair of a windless room where opening the windows doesn’t cool things down one bit?

Do they not consider the feelings of students who are forced to study for their living expenses amidst this fierce heat?

What makes it even more aggravating is that, for some reason, the staff room is fully equipped with air conditioning.

It’s an absurdity that practically screams, “Adults are fine, but kids can suffer.”

If anything, this is even more unreasonable than that crappy school rule about lights out at eight o’clock.

……Next time, maybe I should go negotiate directly with the Academy Director.

The heat was so intense that I was on the verge of spitting out such grudges—that was the vibe of things these days.

“”Hyahhooooooooi! It’s Summer Vacatioooooooon!””

Karasuma, Nishikimachi, and a few others shouted.

Just moments ago, the final class before summer break had ended.

And simultaneously, this chaos ensued.

These members of the top school caste, taking advantage of the heat, had unbuttoned their shirts down to the third button, their hearts already racing toward the upcoming long holiday.

Isn’t that opening up your chest a little too much?

I thought that, but well, that is youth; that is the summer of the yo-kya (cheerful/popular characters).

Incidentally, I am not accepting questions like, “So, is Amamori-kun, who wears his uniform properly, an in-kya (gloomy/loner character)?” Everyone has their own way of spending the summer.

“You lot…… Just because school rules don’t apply during summer vacation doesn’t mean you should go too wild, understood?”

“We knoooow, Sakaki-sensei!”

“It’s fine! At most, we’ll just stay up later than we usually can!”

Seeing the students who didn’t seem to take the warning to heart at all, Sakaki-sensei let out a massive sigh and shook her head.

As she said, solely during summer vacation, any and all school rules are rendered null and void.

……That said, if you take advantage of that to go around beating people up, you’re still on a one-way trip to expulsion, so surely no one would go that wild.

Or rather, the types of guys who looked like they might do that—Netsuhara and Shinzaki—had already been sealed away.

Class 1-C could sing the praises of summer vacation without a single worry.

“……Amamori-kun, do you have any plaaans for summer break?”

Suddenly, the energetic ponytail from the seat diagonally in front turned toward me.

Innocent and naive, yet serious at her core, the Class Rep.

The girl scattering those [Character Traits] around—Kurashiki Hotaru.

To describe her in one word: A Communication Monster.

She’s like the protagonist of a story where someone gets reincarnated with a friendship cheat skill.

If only she wasn’t black-hearted, I’d have no complaints whatsoever…….

“Plans…… Plans, huh.”

For now, there’s the intensive special training for my disciple (provisional), Ishino, right?

And then, I’ll probably have to accompany Shiki, who has recently been muttering to herself [I really yearn for a date…], and go somewhere with her, right? After that…… let’s see, I need to have a talk with Shinzaki soon too—wait.

“Seems like I actually have quite a lot to do……”

“Is thaaat so……. No, see, I was thinking of inviting Kana-chan, Kurotsuki-kun, and everyone else to go camping or something. I was wondering if you had any free days, Amamori-kun?”

Camping, huh……. Well, since Kurashiki is the one inviting, it means pretty much the entire class will participate. Being told “Class Assemble” in a place beyond my supervision feels a little dangerous.

It’s not like I trust my classmates, nor do I have faith in them.

There’s no guarantee that someone won’t decide to initiate a Conflict (struggle request) on their own in a place my hands can’t reach.

……After all, things with Class 1-A haven’t been settled yet.

“A free day, huh…… Let’s see, in August—”

“Oh, of course, Kasumi-chan will be there too.”

“My mistake. I am not free for a single day.”

However, with a single casual remark from Kurashiki, my logic was completely blown away.

Campiiing? Like I’d participate if that Kasumi-chan is coming!

Could you please tell me that beforehand? I hate that person, you see.

When I turned my gaze toward the front, I saw Asahina-jou, who had been eavesdropping, collapse in despair.

“W-Why though!? T-The moment you heard my name—”

“Eh, well, naturally.”

“You don’t have to say it. You don’t have to say it, Amamori-kun! I understand already! You’re bad with me, right? I know, I know so……”

I’m not bad with you, I hate you.

I thought about saying that, but if she understands to that extent, I’ll refrain. Asahina-jou seems a bit tired lately, anyway.

The reason? She was probably beaten soundly by Yatagarasu and is doing some training or something. I don’t have plans for a while, but I am somewhat looking forward to the next time we fight.

But I digress.

“A-Amamori-kun. I apologize, I overheard the conversation, but……”

“Hm, Hoshina-san. What’s the matter?”

Suddenly, I heard the first cry of a Goddess.

Just listening to it brings happiness to my ears.

A GOD difficult to describe with mere words.

Yes, it is Hoshina-san.

She furrowed her brows in a troubled manner, gazing at me.

“U-Um…… well, I was thinking that the Literature Club should go somewhere for summer vacation, but……. You seem busy, I’m sorry.”

“Rest assured, I am free every single day. Call me anytime.”

“W-What you’re saying is completely different!”

Asahina-jou shouted.

I tried my best to pretend I didn’t hear it, while Hoshina-san smiled awkwardly.

“A-Amamori-kun…… Lying is no good, you know. Deceiving people is not good.”

“You’re right. Sorry Kurashiki-san, I’m scared of a stalker so I don’t want to go.”

“You’re making it even more malicious!?”

Asahina-jou’s voice echoed, and the usual daily life passed by.

Waiting right before our eyes is the very first summer vacation since this academy started.

—This academy’s greatest freedom.

Faced with that, even I didn’t seem likely to keep a straight face (expressionless).

“Kept you waiting, Yuuto! I have arrived!”

After school, at the final Literature Club meeting before summer break.

While I was reading a book in the library, a sickly-sweet voice launched an assault from the side.

Hugging me in front of the public (though it’s only the five members of the Lit Club) and rubbing her cheek against mine is this blonde girl. Class 1-B’s Shiki Iroha.

Isn’t she from Shinzaki’s class! And she’s the ringleader who bullied Hoshina-san! *

Normally, one would be surprised. In fact, there were voices like that initially.

……There were, but well.

Thinking back on it deeply, I reflect a little on the past.

It happened one day after the Conflict with Class B ended.

Shiki stormed into Class 1-C alone and blasted a public confession at me.

[I love you, Yuuto! Please go out with me with marriage in mind!!] or something like that.

At this, even I was genuinely dumbfounded.

A smirking Kurashiki (the ringleader who egged her on), Asahina-jou panicking with a bright red face, Kurotsuki looking like he wanted to say “As expected of Amamori-san,” and the murderous glares directed at me from the majority of the other guys.

Result: I grabbed Shiki and fled the scene.

I rejected the confession saying [I have no intention of dating anyone right now], but this is the mentally strong Shiki Iroha.

[You said “right now”, didn’t you! Then I’ll wait, because I love Yuuto!]

She reached that conclusion, and after that, she started coming to see me frequently.

To the other students, she explained it like this:

[Because Yuuto and Shinzaki had a fight, didn’t they? Then I can’t exactly come to Class C to visit. But, Shinzaki lost totally, right? Then, there’s no longer any reason why I can’t see Yuuto, is there? So I’m coming.]

According to the person herself, Shiki Iroha is a martyr for love.

Due to her pressure that allowed no arguments, no one could say anything, and as a result, here we are today.

Asahina and the others seemed to struggle until the end asking “Why, how come?”, but…

[There is no reason for love. The moment you fall in love comes suddenly. Do you understand?]

Seeing Shiki’s lack of intention to discuss the past, they seemingly gave up in the end.

—However,
