Prologue
A fierce storm rages in a world of absolute blackness… a world without even a single ray of light.
Curled up like a fetus and asleep within the torrent of power that seems capable of crumbling even a human soul, and the raging storm of nothingness, “I” have a dream.
In a magnificent mansion, a beautiful blonde man and woman gaze at me with gentle eyes.
Calm servants entertain me with full smiles.
Two girls, one blonde and one dark-haired, take my hand and invite me to play.
A venerable King and a gentle Queen in a large castle.
A boy wearing a flower crown, looking sulky.
A young man with honest eyes gripping a sword.
And then…
The gentle World of Light cracks and shatters.
The sweet scent of flowing blood.
A devastated world covered by eternal dark clouds.
Thousands of grotesque beasts in human form kneel before “me”.
Four young people commanding the beasts.
A colossal… “beast” like a leopard, as “dark” as a moonless night…
Reflected in its silver eyes is a “Golden Cat”…
I dream, curled up like a fetus in the dark storm.
One great power creates a wall, as if rejecting “me”.
One great power reaches out, as if seeking “me”.
In the storm of nothingness, an even darker “shadow” is carved out into a human shape. A young man with deep, midnight-blue hair spreads his arms in welcome, smiling gently with blood-red eyes.
“Now, the journey begins. …My beloved child.”

A crack races through the void’s darkness. A faint light shines through.
Is someone… calling me?
A stranger. But a familiar voice. A boy…? A girl…?
The distant roar of a “beast” is audible.
Are you… calling “me”…?
“I” reach out for that light…
“—Ah, you woke up!”
Warm light is felt through my eyelids. I gently open my eyes to that light, and in the scenery that is still hazy and blurred, I hear someone’s voice saying that.
The voice of an unfamiliar girl… but a very familiar voice.
It felt like I had been asleep for a very long time. My body still couldn’t move properly, and a warm hand enveloped mine as I reached for the light.
“No, you have to keep sleeping!”
The girl gently held me down, pressing her forehead against mine as if she was embracing me when I tried to sit up. It was a little… cool and felt nice.
“You still have a slight fever, I think? But it’s a relief that it’s mostly gone down. You had a terrible fever since yesterday and were asleep the whole time, so your mother and father were making a huge fuss. Are you hungry?”
“……No.”
A tiny voice escaped my lips. A slight pain in my throat made me cough a little, and the girl quickly patted my back.
“You should drink something first. We have water, but should I bring some juice? Or would you prefer warm milk…”
In my blurred vision, which was slowly becoming clearer, I saw the worried face of the girl.
She looked like a middle-schooler… a healthy-looking girl with black hair and black eyes. A stranger… but I also felt like I knew her.
Around her familiar smile, I saw a bright room that I felt like I had seen somewhere before.
Pale floral wallpaper. Crayon scribbles visible at the edge. Colorful picture books and a bear stuffed animal lined up on a bookshelf.
A small dressing table, like for playing house, and small white desk and white chair arranged nearby.
A small bed surrounded by cushions of various sizes and colors…
At this sight… something deep within me trembled, and an overwhelming surge of nostalgia caused tears to spill from my eyes without my knowing.
“Hey, what’s wrong?”
The girl, who sounded slightly surprised by my tears, gently hugged me as if I were something fragile, and softly stroked my hair.
A big hand… no, I am small.
“……Did you have a scary dream? You’re okay now… Yuzu…”
