Mob Villain In An Otome Game Volume 3 Chapter 27

A Letter from Farah

After discussing Capella, Ellen, and Alex’s roles, I finally returned to my room for the first time in a while. Dropping onto the bed, I lay on my back and let out a deep sigh.

“Ahhh… I’m exhausted.”

After coming back from Renalute, I thought I’d get some rest. But no, an unexpected reunion with Cookie and Biscuit awaited me. Now that I think about it, why exactly did they follow me here? That’s something I’ll have to ask them one of these days.

As for Capella, when I asked Galun about him afterward, he said Capella showed a lot of promise. In fact, Galun was so confident he assured me that, given some time, Capella would act flawlessly as a butler. Well, considering he was part of the covert forces, that might be his forte.

I also need to find workshops for Ellen and Alex and plan what I want them to craft. There’s so much to do… That’s when I remembered.

“Oh, right… Farah sent me a letter.”

Sitting up, I retrieved the letter from my belongings. Then, lying back down again on the bed, I held the letter in my hands. My posture wasn’t exactly polite, but nobody was watching, so I figured it was fine.

“…Why does this make my heart race?”

With that thought, I opened the seal and began to read.

“……”

As I silently read through the letter, I felt my face grow redder with every line.
Farah’s letter began with concern for my health, mentioning how I get motion sick easily. She went on to express her gratitude for how I had saved her a lot, her reconciliation with Eltia, and most importantly, her feelings. Although our marriage was arranged for political reasons, she wrote that she couldn’t imagine marrying anyone but me now.

She also mentioned that she has a rare trait among Dark Elves, something she’d like to tell me about someday. The letter ended with the words: “Everything I told you at Honmaru Palace was the truth. I deeply admire you, Lord Reed.”

“…!!”

By the time I finished reading, my face was burning red, and I couldn’t help but grin. Overcome with embarrassment, I rolled around on the bed, clutching the letter. Before I knew it, I’d fallen asleep, completely forgetting about the visitor who always came to my room in the mornings.

“Ugh…? Huh? Did I fall asleep like this?”

“Good morning, Nii-sama!!”

As I woke up, I found Mel grinning at me from beside the bed. Cookie and Biscuit were perched on her shoulders.

“Good morning, Mel. You seem really cheerful. Did something good happen?”

“Yup!! Hey, Nii-sama, do you like Hime-nee-sama?”

“Eh…? Hime-nee-sama? Who’s that?”

It was the first time I’d heard Mel use that term. Still groggy from sleep, I couldn’t think straight. But as my mind cleared, I suddenly realized something. The letter from Farah that had been in my hands before I fell asleep was missing. At that moment, I had a bad feeling about the term “Hime-nee-sama” Mel had just mentioned.

“Me-Mel, you didn’t see a letter on the bed, did you?”

“There wasn’t anything on the bed, but I found one on the floor.”

As she spoke, Mel handed me the letter with a mischievous smile.

“Oh, thanks.”

“Hehehe, you’re welcome!”

After taking the letter and thanking her, I asked cautiously,

“By the way, Mel, you didn’t happen to… read it, did you?”

“Yup! I could tell Hime-nee-sama really likes you, Nii-sama.”

“Ugh!! M-Mel, you can’t tell anyone about this letter, okay? If you talk about what’s written here, I’ll have no choice but to get mad at you. Do you understand?”

“Okay!! I won’t tell anyone. It’ll be our secret!”

“Haha… Yeah, that’s right.”

Smiling wryly, I decided to accept that the whole letter incident was my fault for being careless. Still, I couldn’t ignore the way Mel kept calling Farah “Hime-nee-sama.”

“By the way, why are you calling Farah ‘Hime-nee-sama’?”

“Well, she’s a princess, right? And she’s going to be my big sister, isn’t she? So, I thought Hime-nee-sama was a good fit. Is it bad?”

“I don’t think it’s bad, but… Oh, right. Farah sent you a letter, too.”

“Really!? Let me see, let me see!!”

Mel looked thrilled. She probably hadn’t expected to get a letter from Farah herself. Seeing her so excited made me smile. I retrieved the unopened letter from Farah, which was in the same bag as mine, and handed it to Mel. She eagerly took it, and I helped her open the seal to read its contents.

“Okay, let’s read it together.”

“Yeah!!”

In the letter, Farah wrote that she was looking forward to meeting Mel soon and was excited about becoming part of the family. She also mentioned how happy she was to have Mel as a little sister. When I finished reading, Mel’s face lit up with joy, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

“Wow! I can’t wait to talk to Hime-nee-sama!!”

“Then how about we write a letter to Farah together?”

“Yeah! I’ll write one, too!!”

And so, this incident marked the beginning of a correspondence between Farah, Mel, and me. By the way, when I sent a reply to Farah, I also returned the letter that Raycis had entrusted to me. To ensure he’d never send another letter to Tia, I scrawled over the unopened envelope with the words, “Are you even a prince? Coward!”

It wasn’t an act of petty revenge for treating me like an errand boy. It was simply to make him give up. At least, that’s what I told myself as I steeled my resolve.
