Chapter 5: Thank You──
I, Sano Yuuto, have four people whose fates are promised to be intertwined with mine──
It’s the kind of chuunibyou thinking that would be laughed off as insane, but I’ve vaguely felt this way ever since I was old enough to remember.
I don’t know their faces or names, yet I know everything about them──
That sensation gradually began manifesting into reality after I met my childhood friend Satsuki.
When I was in elementary school, I could mysteriously see a phantom vision of what Satsuki would look like when she grew up to be a high schooler.
Her short pink hair would grow into beautiful long locks that looked like dancing cherry blossoms, and she’d look at me with a smile that could captivate anyone. And above all, even as a child, her curvy figure made me feel that this woman would become an exquisite beauty.
And that was the moment when the first of my destined ones, who had been shrouded in mist within me, became clear.
I must never let her go── Something like a survival instinct, similar to an obsessive compulsion, drove me forward.
And the gears of fate began to turn when I entered high school.
Kitagawa Reine, Nanjou Shuna, Shinonome Shino ── it was the moment when all of my destined women gathered together.
In my first year of high school, I started making moves to claim all of these women, but even though I took direct action, those women trampled on my goodwill.
I had no choice but to focus on Satsuki. It’s like the saying “chase two rabbits and you’ll catch neither,” but first I’d make Satsuki mine. I’d think about the rest later. She said something about becoming a gravure idol, but honestly, I felt like she could do whatever she wanted.
If that’s what she wants to do, fine by me. It’s not worth being controlling about.
Besides, I had an intuition that the turning point for me would come in my second year of high school.
And sure enough, when I became a second-year and tried to develop my relationships with the four of them, there was absolutely no change.
My goodwill was trampled on once again. Even now, remembering that time makes me furious.
“……Come to think of it, there was some mob character trying to get close to those four~”
It was comical how his existence was forgotten by the next day. Unfortunately I don’t remember his face, but recalling that pathetic sight makes me feel a bit better.
I think the relationship with them changed when the four of them started being called the Four Beauties.
And for some reason, my favorability rating with the Four Beauties went up, and they started talking to me more favorably. There were strange things happening, like being thanked for things I had no memory of doing, or large sums of money being deposited into my account, but I was certain of it.
This world revolves around me──
And God is trying to connect me with the Four Beauties. And I realized that my proxy was raising my favorability. More precisely, they were creating situations that were convenient for me. That prediction was right, and without doing anything in particular, by the time I became a third-year, I had made all of the Four Beauties fall for me.
By the way, I call this proxy Santa Claus.
I don’t know their appearance or voice, but I think I gave them a fitting name.
However, there was just one problem. All of the Four Beauties were on bad terms with each other. It was a manifestation of their desire to monopolize me, but it was nothing but troublesome.
I brushed off all their consultations and heavy conversations, leaving everything to Santa Claus afterward.
“But when it really matters, they’re useless…”

When I put the confessions from the Four Beauties on hold, I thought I was giving them time for all of them to become friends.
If there’s time until graduation, they’d normally become friends, right? Even if the Four Beauties couldn’t do it alone, I thought Santa Claus would somehow manage it.
But even when graduation day came, Satsuki was still spouting nonsense about choosing just one person. I was fed up with Satsuki for not being able to grasp my intentions even after being given all that time. So I proposed that we become friends with benefits so they could learn about each other’s good points. But then she turned her back on me in the middle of the conversation.
I never expected to be rejected, so I was stunned for a moment, but I immediately thought I’d chase after her.
However, a student from our high school got hit by a car in front of Satsuki, and that took precedence over everything else.
“If you’re going to get in an accident, at least don’t cause me trouble……”
They did something unnecessary, but it’s confirmed that I’m going to the same university as all of the Four Beauties. It’s only a matter of time before I make all four of them fall for me.
However, there was something bothering me.
“Reine, don’t contact me about meaningless things either……seriously.”
I thought she’d accepted my proposal and got excited, but it turned out to be nothing but pointless confirmations.
Normally I would nod along and go with the flow of the conversation, but I wanted to quickly end the conversation and get back to my game, so I told her the facts as they were.
Santa Claus will handle it anyway──
“But it’s strange that she hasn’t even read my messages……”
While I was thinking about that, the entrance ceremony finally arrived. Since that day, I haven’t received any contact from the four of them at all, so I tried contacting them myself, but my messages weren’t even read.
I had no choice, so I thought I’d go to the university with just Satsuki, and went to pick her up at her house, but no one was there.
A pale blue spread across the sky, and as if invited by the faint breeze, cherry blossom petals fluttered down. Counting from kindergarten, this was my fifth entrance ceremony. That number had no special meaning, but Satsuki had always been by my side.
“I wonder what they’re doing……”
The entrance ceremony at Kyoyo University is held by department. It takes place at the Kyoyo University 100th Anniversary Memorial Hall. Either way, I couldn’t attend the entrance ceremony together with the four of them, so you could say that’s just how it was, but somehow it didn’t sit right with me.
When I entered the memorial hall and opened the large doors, a spacious area spread out before me. The tiered hall had a structure that gave it a unique sense of depth and movement. There was a stage in the center, and it was set up like an auditorium. Coming to a place like this really made me feel like I’d become a university student.
Once inside, I was instructed to fill in seats from the front, so I took my seat. Looking around, I saw new students who looked like their suits were wearing them, chatting with their fellow students in the adjacent seats.
I should make friends within my department while I can. I didn’t really have any friends worth calling friends in high school.
Because I was surrounded by the Four Beauties, I drew jealousy from people of the same sex. That backfired, and I have no friends. There’s nothing uglier than the jealousy of unpopular people, so if anything, it was good that such people were filtered out.
Fortunately, Kyoyo University is a university that only those who ranked in the top tier of my high school can enter. There should be people here who can study on equal footing with me.
For now, should I talk to that gloomy-looking guy with glasses next to me? The moment I was about to call out to him──
“Please! Let me attend the entrance ceremony alone!”
A plea resembling a scream echoed through the hall. Since it was a place where concerts and choruses were held, the voice reverberated throughout.
“A wheelchair all by yourself is no~ good. Your right hand is already impaired, so you can’t move around without us.”
“No, I’ll be fine……if I’m just moving around inside the school building, the barrier-free accommodations are solid, so it’s not that inconvenient. If it gets tough, I’ll ask the staff……”
“Hey……why would you say you’d rely on the staff rather than us? Why? Could it be that you don’t need us anymore? If we’ve been inadequate in any way, we’ll fix it, so please don’t throw us away──”
“Ah! That’s not it! Simply put, if I’m together with beautiful girls like you, I’ll stand out like crazy! I want to have a peaceful and quiet campus life.”
“……So we’re not in the campus life Satoshi-kun envisions. Hey, everyone. I saw this on the bulletin board earlier, there’s a place called The Blood-Washing Pond. It looks just right for jumping in, doesn’t it?”
“That’s why~! Don’t fall into darkness so easily~! Okay, okay! Stay with me as long as you’re satisfied!”
“Don’t push yourself. Come on, let’s go.”
“Wait a minute! Um, well, I just realized that I’m shy and was a loner with no friends for three years, so there’s no way I can talk to the staff! I really need you guys who I’m used to being with all the time~!”
“……Really?”
“It’s not a lie! Look into my eyes. Do I look like I’m lying?”
“……It’s true that Satoshi-kun doesn’t have any friends……sorry, I jumped to conclusions……”
“Eh? That’s the part!?”
