afterword
Hello everyone. This is the author MIZUNA.
Thank you very much for picking up II Reincarnated As A Mob Villain In An Otome Game I Was Bashing Away At, But I’m Gonna Live Straight Because I Don’t Wanna Be Condemned 3]. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in creating this work. Thank you to my supportive family, TO Books, my editor Ms. H, the wonderful illustrator Ruki who drew the beautiful art, and all the many people cheering me on online. And thank you to everyone who picked up this book. I’m truly grateful.
I first posted this story on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website on February 26, 2022. And since this third volume is being released on March 20th, it’s been about a year and a month since that initial posting. However, every single day of writing and book production has been a day of learning and reflection, so the time has flown by in a blink of an eye. I hope to keep working hard going forward.
Since this is a good opportunity, I’d like to touch a bit on the story itself. In modern society, the idea of Reed and the others getting engaged in a “political marriage” at their ages would be unthinkable. However, looking back through human history, there are quite a few examples of political marriages occurring around the age Reed is now. For the time period, it was a normal and accepted part of society back then.
In this case, the political marriage between Reed and Farah also symbolizes the connection between their two countries, and that Renalute is a vassal state of Magnolia. That’s why the Norris-Tamuska group that appeared in Volume 2 vehemently opposed it.
But as the continental map included starting in Volume 2 shows, Renalute is blocked by the Magical Demon Forest to the east, Barst to the north, and Magnolia to the west and south. Renalute doesn’t have the national power to fight against either the Magnolia Empire or Barst. And while Renalute’s military is called the “Tiger’s Cubs,” if they failed in a military operation and their forces collapsed, they would be unable to defend their country.
In that scenario, they could very well end up being swallowed whole by Magnolia or Barst. The only reason that hasn’t happened until now is because Renalute is surrounded by deep forests, so if another country’s army recklessly invaded, Renalute could fight back with guerrilla tactics and ambushes. However, that situation changed completely due to a scheme Barst hatched after studying Renalute’s movements.
In other words, while Renalute could previously defend itself through “passive defense,” that method no longer works against other countries. As a result, Renalute was forced to choose between annihilation as a nation or becoming a vassal state, and ended up allying with Magnolia on the surface while secretly becoming a vassal through a secret pact.
Based on that background, the story led to the political marriage between Reed and Farah. No matter what, I hope the two of them can find happiness from here on. But the story often takes unexpected turns even for the author writing it, so I hope you’ll look forward to what happens next.
Thankfully, the next volume has been greenlit for release, so I’m looking forward to meeting you all again in Volume 4. Thank you for reading to the end.
Bonus Short Story:
Nunnaly’s Drive
Ever since Reiner and Reed departed for Renalute, Meldy had been visiting Nunnaly’s room more frequently than before, as if she felt a bit lonely. Today too, she had come along with her attendant Danae, so at Meldy’s request, Nunnaly was reading her a picture book.
Previously, Nunnaly had found even reading picture books to be a bother due to her illness. But thanks to the “mana recovery medicine” developed by Reed and the others, she seemed to be doing much better now.
After finishing reading the picture book, Nunnaly gently asked the adorable little girl sitting cross-legged beside her bed:
“Does Mel miss them, now that the two of them are gone?”
“Um…well…I think Mommy misses them too.”
“Oh my, fufu. Yes, I do miss them when they’re not around.”
It seemed the young Meldy was facing her loneliness at Reed and the others being away, putting on a brave front in her own way. Nunnaly, having noticed Meldy’s show of courage, had a gentle smile. Then Meldy muttered contemplatively:
“Say, Mommy. Big Bro went to Renalute to meet his bride, right?”
“Yes, that’s right. Knowing Reed, I’m sure he properly greeted her.”
Answering Meldy, Nunnaly gazed out the window. Meldy followed her gaze outside for a moment before continuing.
“Hey Mommy, what was it like when you and Daddy met?”
“Eh…!? Well, let me see. Your father and I met in the imperial capital, where we were arranged to be married.”
“Oooh, and then what happened?”
Meldy’s eyes sparkled brightly as she asked. Danae, who had been standing by the doorway observing their exchange, also reacted slightly to Meldy’s words, a hint of anticipation showing in her eyes too. Nunnaly seemed to notice their reactions, but answered with a smile:
“If you two can promise to keep this just our little secret, I’ll tell you a bit about it.”
“Yeah, I promise. You too, Danae, right?”
“Of course, milady. I haven’t heard a thing.”
Nunnaly let out a slight “Kukuku” laugh before beginning her story.

On that day, the household of the prestigious Ronamis family, one of the renowned noble houses of the Magnolia Empire, held a marriage meeting between their only daughter Nunnaly Ronamis and Rogus Galianos, the eldest son of the Galianos family.
“…In other words, my Galianos family has deep ties to the Janpol family as well, and once I become the head, further dramatic growth is assured.”
“Is that so? How splendid.”
“Hahaha, indeed, indeed. Apart from that…”
As Rogus enthusiastically continued his boastful speech, Nunnaly maintained a smile, but was inwardly exasperated.
(Haah…after hearing this boasting about nobility connections at this marriage meeting, I’m getting quite fed up.)
While the Ronamis family was a prestigious noble house rivaling even dukedoms, their rank had been capped at marquis for generations. As such, they were inundated with marriage proposals from upstart nobles and others seeking greater status. Being among the nobility, they couldn’t simply refuse outright depending on the proposer.
Hence this marriage meeting. But Rogus Galianos’s speeches were thoroughly tedious, boasting only of his family’s connections to other powerful nobles, never mentioning any of his own accomplishments.
(I suppose one could call this “borrowing the tiger’s prestige” regarding such types…)
Nunnaly made a deliberate noise as she set her tea cup down on the table. Rogus openly displayed his disgust at her actions.
“What is the meaning of making such uncouth noises interrupting my speech…how rude.”
“Fufu, my apologies. However, Sir Rogus, all of your talk has only been about others. Have you no accomplishments of your own to speak of?”
“Wha-What!? Establishing nobility connections is a great accomplishment in itself. Are you really so ignorant!?”
Rather than being fazed by Rogus’s show of anger, Nunnaly simply smiled back at him.
“Certainly, forging new bonds between noble houses would count as your accomplishment, Sir Rogus. However, everyone you mentioned has an existing connection to the Galianos Marquis family alone. In other words, they are not associating with you personally, but rather your family name.”
“Wha…!?”
