On social media and such, there are tons of people like “I experienced something amazing” or “I accomplished something incredible.” They sprinkle just a little powder of humility on the surface while strongly appealing their own greatness and righteousness. Of course, not just online, but in real life too.
“That kind of stuff is really inelegant to me. That’s why I don’t want to do it. I don’t want to say anything”
“Expecting people to understand you while staying silent is childish thinking”
“Yeah, you’re right. I probably should appeal and assert myself. Most people do it, so that’s probably more modern, and if it’s majority rule, that side wins. So I was a bit scared, thinking that what I believe in might never be understood by anyone”
“Why have you already overcome that?”
“Because there was someone who understood me”
Hana-chan had been watching me all along. And this principle of mine that might be called my own rules, or that others might tell me to adapt more to those around me—she called it classic.
And just as Hana-chan said, Her Majesty and I are somewhat alike.
Her Majesty also strongly believes in her own aesthetic sense and code of conduct. The reason Her Majesty keeps me by her side despite my poor table manners is surely because we have such similarities.
“When you have someone nearby who understands you, somehow everything stops being scary”
“No—”
Kenji, with an exasperated face, says something incredibly ordinary.
“That’s just two people……”
“You don’t get it~”
I say.
“When a beautiful older woman and a cute junior are on your side! Everything becomes okay!”
“You simple-minded idiot~!”
“That’s a compliment. I don’t want to become a big-headed smartass like you~!”
I approach Kenji, pointing my gun at him. Then the demons who were still in the hotel enter the room.
“Hey, you guys, kill him quickly!”
Kenji shouts.
“You really never move your own hands, huh”
“So what?”
“I’m saying it gets me really fired up when facing someone like you!”
I kick away the demons coming up onto the stage as I close in on Kenji.
“We should wrap this up quickly”
Her Majesty says while fighting back.
“We don’t have much time”
I look at the pocket watch hanging from my neck. Less than a minute remained. Indeed, I’m dragging my right leg, and it’s becoming difficult to keep my eyes open.
“Stop, don’t come any closer”
Kenji says while backing away.
“I’m a demon. Fear me more, be afraid!”
“Not working at all. Because I’m angry”
Daytime. Kenji hurt Hana-chan and killed many people.
“I’m always acting all cool and putting on this catchy, high-energy front, y’know~?”
I say it out loud.
“But the truth is! I really believe—no one should ever get hurt for no damn reason! Kenji, you went too far! You idiot!”
I point my gun at him. But Kenji just grins.
“Oh? So you’re just some moralist playing anarchist, huh? Then how ‘bout this?”
Between me and Kenji, a group of unarmed, perfectly ordinary-looking people suddenly push their way in. They’re apologizing—”Sorry about this~”—as they shuffle toward me.
“They’re human,”
Kenji says.
“What’ll you do, ‘hero of justice’? Or are you all talk?”
“Kenji, you bastard—playing dirty like this?!”
I can’t do anything to them. They grab me, mobbing me until my gun’s wrestled away.
Still, I drag them along as I lunge and punch Kenji square in the face.
Kenji laughs, holding his cheek.
“You really think you can beat a demon bare-handed?”
That’s when I remember—I’ve got a Bible in my pocket. No gun? Fine, then it’s time for some old-school exorcism! I flip it open, trying to chant something… but the Bible isn’t even in English. It’s some complicated script I can’t read at all.
“You’re not a priest,”
Kenji says before punching me back.
“Then how ‘bout this?!” I swing the Bible at him.
“Ow!” Kenji yelps.
“Looks like it’s working~!”
“That’s just regular human pain, dumbass!”
We grapple.
Time’s running out. I’ve got maybe ten seconds left. Blood’s pouring from my gut like a damn fountain.
Kenji kicks my wound.
“GAHHHHHHH—!”
I scream as I shove the Bible into his mouth.
“Bet a demon’d have one hell of an allergic reaction to a Bible crammed down its throat, right?!”
Kenji tries to retort, but with the Bible wedged in, it’s just muffled noise.
Using my momentum, I slam him against the wall and grind the Bible deeper.
Kenji kicks and punches my wound in return.
Then, just as the pocket watch’s final seconds tick away—
“Madarame.”
Her Majesty—who’d been fighting other demons—tosses her gun toward me.
I catch it—
And shoot Kenji straight through the forehead.

“Your Majesty, did you know?”
I’m sprawled on my back on the floor.
“The ceiling… it’s stained glass.”
The hall’s top floor has a skylight, its glass painted with this grand, angelic descent scene.
“Demons totally seem like the type for this kinda tacky joke. Pisses me off~”
Demon corpses litter the place.
Her Majesty pulls up a chair and sits beside me.
“Let’s have Rabbi and Friday come pick us up.”
As we’re talking, a flood of footsteps approaches. A new wave of demons storms into the hall—fresh troops. Distinguished gentlemen in sharp suits, a beautiful woman in a red dress leading men behind her—all surrounding us with deliberate strides.
“Wait… are these the four named demons they said were coming?”
“Probably.”
No doubt. Among the demon leaders, I even spot a politician I’ve seen on TV—total demon mastermind vibes.
Her Majesty eyes them and speaks:Liebezal
“Abaddon. Zamiel. Mammon. Rübezahl.”
Definitely demon names.
“Your Majesty.”
“What?”
“Can you order me around? Force me to move if you have to?”
“No.”
Her Majesty shakes her head.
“My power depends on your loyalty.”
“Seriously?”
She nods.
“The more loyalty you swear, the stronger I become. And the stronger I am, the more power I can give you.”
“So… a perpetual motion machine between us?”
“Not even close.”
Her Majesty sighs, pointing at me.
“You’re about to pass out. Loyalty can’t be measured when you’re unconscious.”
Which means—
“I’ll just be a ‘Her Majesty’ with good fashion sense. Fighting’s off the table.”
Resistance seems hopeless.
One of the gentleman-faced demons snaps his fingers.
Instantly, the surrounding demons lunge at us. I try to move, but my body won’t respond. This is it, I think—
Then, light pierces through the skylight.
In an instant, the stained glass shatters. A woman in a white coat descends amid a rain of colorful shards.
The glass fragments freeze midair before they can hit me.
She lands soundlessly beside me.
“You have an exceptionally strong sense of justice,”
she says, resting a hand on my forehead.
“You’re amazing.”
Then, calmly, she surveys the room. The attacking demons are frozen too, just like the suspended glass.
“Time isn’t stopped. I’m just moving fast enough to distort its flow.”
Sure enough, some demons are still inching forward, albeit sluggishly.
“Well then, shall we?”
She draws her sword—blade, hilt, all of it pure white.
In the next moment, she vanishes. A streak of light flashes through the room.
When she reappears, she sheathes her sword.
Simultaneously, the demons collapse. All of them—even the four named ones.
Some survive, but with severed limbs or deep wounds.
Then, more figures in white coats flood the hall, surrounding the remaining demons.
An organization.
Members, led by a few who clearly hold rank.
“Onmyō Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, First Enforcement Division—Captain, Shirakawa Kyōko.”
The white-sword woman announces herself to the demons.
“You’re going back to hell.”
“By the name of the Archangel Michael.”
