The Devil Princess Volume 4 chapter 1 part 1

Chapter 1: A Youth’s Wish

That “youth” was “happy.”

However, that happiness slipped through his hands due to just the smallest of things.

As a child, he did not know the meaning of “unhappiness.”

He had a father and a mother. Although he had no siblings, his parents both worked, so there was no poverty in their household. As a child, the youth had no doubts and thought he had a perfectly ordinary “family.”

Perhaps the first time the youth felt a sense of dissonance was when his parents never once attended his sports day events.

It could also have been because the family only ate meals together about once a week, or the fact that there were days when he never had a conversation with his family members.

The one who cooked the meals was a housekeeper who only appeared during mealtimes, and it was the daycare staff who took care of him.

The three-person family of the father, mother, and youth – but the youth was the only one who thought they were a “family.” He realized this home was nothing more than a “shared residence” inhabited by people who were only interested in themselves.

However, even after realizing that fact, the youth did not think he was unhappy.

He had time to acquire knowledge, and the youth knew that there was far greater unhappiness in this world, and that being able to eat meals and have a place to sleep meant he was fortunate. More than anything, since he was very young, there was a young girl who cared about him.

It started when the girl consulted her mother after seeing him always eating alone, and they invited the youth to have a meal with them.

The girl’s parents warmly welcomed the child who had suddenly intruded into their family gathering, and her young brother adored him like an older brother.

For the first time, he experienced the warmth of a “family” and could not stop the tears overflowing.

From then on, he became deeply involved with the girl’s family. When he entered middle school, they began to become aware of each other, and in high school, they fell into their first love.

Naturally, they began dating, and after graduating from university, the youth decided to leave his nominal family and live with her.

The youth wanted to get married to his beloved girlfriend as soon as possible, but the two of them, having just entered society, did not have the financial means. However, at the girlfriend’s suggestion that she wanted to be with him more than having a ceremony, they decided to start living together and only submit the marriage registration paperwork.

The youth was at the pinnacle of happiness.

The two of them took time off, held hands, and headed to the municipal office……

The youth shielded his girlfriend from a suddenly intruding truck and lost his life.

His fading consciousness… Enveloped in darkness amidst her screaming cries of anguish…….

The youth encountered a “demon.”

Far away from the peaceful lands inhabited by humans… The Demon Realm.

The “Demon Realm” is a name given by the Evil Race to distinguish themselves from human nations, although human nations did not recognize it as a “nation” either.

The residents of the Demon Realm did revere the existence of the “Demon King” as a symbol against the human race that persecuted their ancestors. However, their nation was not a unified whole; in reality, they were divided into many large and small tribes that looked down on each other while continuing their endless conflicts.

Among them, there were three particularly powerful tribes.

One was the most numerous tribe, consisting of demons and demi-humans close to human form, under the direct control of the Demon King Hevrat.

One was a tribe led by the Beast King Galus, centered around beast-people with appearances close to monsters.

One was the tribe of the Dark Princess Killian, consisting of demons that had taken in the blood of monsters and wise monsters.

The reason they continued to kill each other until one side was destroyed, unable to know the joy of creation and only able to find joy in plundering, was the existence of the Demon King as the overall ruler of the demons, their shared consciousness of resentment towards humans, and the fact that they knew “pain.”

The individual power of a demon far exceeded that of an individual human. Overconfident Demon Kings of each era launched invasions into human nations many times due to this advantage, but each of those attempts failed.

A demon’s “individual strength” is powerful. But humans had the wisdom to create things and “numbers” on their side.

Over time, humans created various weapons and developed magic that even ordinary soldiers could use, closing the gap in “individual strength” with demons. Finally, the Demon Kings of each era were defeated by the hands of “heroes” and “holy maidens,” causing the demons to decline with each loss.

However, the demons did not give up.

They continued to grind their fangs, dreaming of one day being able to vent their resentment towards humans and seize a bountiful land where they would never go hungry.

However… at this very moment, the Demon Realm was exposed to the greatest chaos and threat.

“How does the Lord intend to take responsibility for this?”

A beautiful woman with a bewitching yet firm voice muttered as she brushed back her long, deep green hair and cast a poisonous gaze.

At the center of the Demon Realm was the castle of the Demon King. Inside, there was a place to hold council meetings by gathering the leaders of the powerful tribes. Having sensed the abnormality, the leaders who had rushed here glared at each other without even bringing their aides.

“What does he intend to do about that monster? At this rate, all of us will end up in its belly!”

The giant sitting across from the beautiful woman snarled, slamming his fist forcefully on the table.

The impact was so great that it cracked the stone table, nearly toppling the beautiful woman’s glass as she slightly frowned and curled her lips into a mocking smile.

“How noisy. You sound just like a frightened ‘kitten.'”

“Ah? You’re the one talking nonsense, you ‘snake woman’!”

The giant flared up with hostility at her mockery, and the beautiful woman raised her arched eyebrows, rising up on her snake-like lower body that was several times larger than her upper body, looking down on the giant from near the ceiling.

“It is you who is talking nonsense, Galus. Do you think you ‘beast demons’ can defeat us ‘evil demons’?”

“It is you who should not think you can survive against us ‘beast demons’!”

Commander of the Demon King’s Army Demon Brigade, the snake-bodied monster, Dark Princess Killian.

Commander of the Demon King’s Army Beast Brigade, the lion beast-man, Beast King Galus.

The two great pillars that formed the core of the Demon King’s Army, the leaders of the three major factions, scattered their magical power and killing intent while reaching for their personal weapons. At that moment—

“Stop this! This is the castle of our Lord!”

Shouting those words to stop them was the mature demon warrior – Supreme Commander of the Demon King’s Personal Demon Brigade, Darnell. He glared at them with a dominating aura no less powerful than theirs.

The Demon King Hevrat was not present here. He was still below in the underground of this Demon King’s castle, continuing to pour his magic into the magic circle to prevent the existence he had summoned from breaking its binding seal.

Darnell, who had been entrusted by Hevrat to act in his stead as the Lord’s name, imposed his authority. Killian and Galus frowned but sheathed their spears in the face of Darnell’s intimidating presence.

It was not that they feared Darnell or looked down on the Demon King. They simply made the calm judgment that if Darnell, who had power equal to them, sided with either of them, it would not end well.

Galus, with a sullen expression, asked Darnell:

“So what does His Majesty the Demon King intend to do about that monster?”

Hevrat was supposed to summon the “great existence” also known as a god of the Demon Realm, along with his subordinates.

However, more demonic power than expected was poured in, and the summoning gate was forcibly opened by that “golden” power, inadvertently summoning an unexpected monster.

A supreme devil, one of the “Demon Beasts” – the “Dark Beasts” –.
