Lights, Camera, Action.
During the Cultural Festival preparation period, my youth began to move. I entered the classroom, took my seat, and exchanged “Good mornings” with Suzuhara-san, both of us blushing.
As days passed laughing together over trivial conversations, Suzuhara-san somehow felt closer.
When she retorted to my jokes, she would touch my arm with the back of her hand, and on the way home, walking together, our shoulders would almost touch. Then, we’d bump a little, become conscious of the height difference and the feeling of each other through our uniforms, and the atmosphere would get shy—my Aoharu was accelerating.
After school, while making the Cultural Festival signboard together, we flicked paint at each other.
During supply runs, we rode two-on-a-bike along the embankment, feeling the wind. The one pedaling was Suzuhara-san. I held onto Suzuhara-san’s shoulders from behind, my heart pounding at the girlish, delicate sensation.
“Oi.”
On a slightly chilly day, Suzuhara-san came to me during P.E. and borrowed my jersey jacket.
“Oi, Madarame.”
Suzuhara-san stood by the backstop wearing my jersey.
“Are you listening──”
Suzuhara-san posed in a way that slightly embarrassedly hid my name embroidered on the chest of the jersey.
She was making a nonchalant face, but she had a shy vibe, and it was incredibly cute.
This… it’s started. Completely. My excitement was rising higher and higher.
Right now, isn’t this what they call ‘mutual crushes’!?
Isn’t this the most bittersweet, greatest moment arriving right now~!?
“Oiiiii~!!”
At Her Majesty‘s loud voice, I returned to my senses. That’s right. Today I had come to Eikokuya (British Shop) from the morning for my usual routine of helping Her Majesty get ready. However──.

“Lately, isn’t your care for me getting sloppy!?”
Her Majesty said, raising one eyebrow. Indeed, her shirt buttons were misaligned, and her bedhead (ahoge) was sticking up.
“Your loyalty has dropped, hasn’t it?”
“I’m sorry, I’ve just been a little busy with Aoharu.”
“………”
Her Majesty looked at me with a dissatisfied face.
“No, it’s not like I’m slacking off or anything──”
I explained to Her Majesty that I was getting along well with Suzuhara-san. After listening to the whole story, Her Majesty made a ‘good grief’ face and said:
“If you’re going to get friendly with that Aoharu girl, don’t lead Hana on with misleading attitudes.”
“I totally thought you were going to say, ‘You have Hana-chan, don’t you?’ Your Majesty.”
“I am the type of Majesty who understands that relationships between men and women are not that simple.”
However, Her Majesty continued.
“It’s fine to lose your head over love, but do your job properly here too.”
Her Majesty looked out the window.
In the blue sky, countless missiles hung frozen in place. Only Her Majesty, Captain Shirakawa, and those like me—who have been touched by Her Majesty the fallen angel—can see them: the nuclear missiles launched in the Apocalypse war prophesied in the Book of Revelation.
“If those fall, it won’t be time for Aoharu anymore.”
And then, Her Majesty said it.
“Make sure you keep Friday in a good mood.”
What are the missiles stopped in the sky? And what relation does Friday’s mood have to them?
Learning that goes back to a story from a little while ago.

The Metropolitan Government Building Bombing Incident where we became wanted nationwide, and the Holy Grail War we got wrapped up in after that—mostly I tried my best, and Her Majesty acted cool at the end to solve it.
But Captain Shirakawa said something like, “It would’ve been nice to have the Holy Grail~!” The reason why was that there were a bunch of nuclear missiles stopped in the sky above Tokyo.
When I asked about it, apparently the Apocalypse war from the Book of Revelation had already happened, and the situation was actually that the world had ended, but they were forcibly stopped.
“It’s made so ordinary people can’t see them, but the whole world is like this,”
Captain Shirakawa said nonchalantly, looking up at the sky.
It was the morning after a drunken mess involving Captain Shirakawa and Her Majesty, while the three of us were taking a walk along the seaside road.
“The Great Prophecy of 1999.”
“What is that?”
“The astrologer Nostradamus said the world would end in 1999. In a quatrain. Something like ‘The Great King of Terror (Angolmois) will appear,’ ‘Mars will reign in the name of happiness,’ or something like that. Apparently, a lot of people believed it back then.”
Weird cults became popular, people panicked; it was a social phenomenon. “I wasn’t born yet so I don’t know either, though,” Captain Shirakawa said.
“So, the year 2000 came properly, and people were like ‘Turns out it was a lie,’ and stopped talking about it, but──”
“The Apocalypse war actually happened!?”
“Exactly.”
The prediction that the Great Prophecy of Nostradamus was about nuclear war was apparently correct, and sure enough, that prediction came true, leaving nuclear missiles remaining in the skies all over the world like this.
“I thought maybe we could erase them with the power of the Holy Grail.”
“But Her Majesty‘s crown melted and went somewhere~”
While saying that and looking at the sky──.
“Wait, aren’t they wobbling? I feel like the missiles are wobbling a little!”
They looked quite worrying.
“Friday must be getting bored.”
Captain Shirakawa said, and I replied, “I see~”
“If Friday is bored, then it can’t be helped. If Friday is───”
Then I tilted my head.
Friday is the silent maid at the tailor shop where Her Majesty gets her clothes made.
“Um, what is the relationship between Friday and nuclear missiles?”
“She’s the one stopping the nuclear missiles.”
“Heeeh~ is that so… wait, whaaaaat~!?”
While surprised, I thought back to what Captain Shirakawa had said.
“So the missiles wobbling because Friday is bored means…”
“The output of Friday’s ability depends on Friday’s mood.”
Her Majesty cut into the conversation.
“She’s been doing it for over twenty years. She’d get tired of it.”
“Exactly.”
Captain Shirakawa said, looking up at the missiles.
“This is—Friday is losing quite a bit of motivation.”
“You’ve entrusted the fate of the world to something fluffy like Friday’s motivation!? That’s amazing!!”
As I was saying that, Captain Shirakawa looked at me.
“Isn’t this where Madarame-kun comes in?”
“Me?”
“Because you’re good at getting on a girl’s good side, right?”
Captain Shirakawa said, looking at Her Majesty. Her Majesty made a sullen face.
“Don’t use my subject without permission.”
“But if Friday loses motivation like this and the missiles fall, the territory of Eli-chan’s Kingdom will be blown away too.”
The second floor of the Kinoshita Coffee Shop in the shopping district is Her Majesty‘s territory, but Her Majesty herself believes that everything along the Yamanote Line is already her territory, so she made a very serious face.
“Protecting the citizens is my duty.”
And then she looked at me and said:
“Get Friday in a good mood. In the name of Your Majesty the Queen.”
After school, it was decided that a costume fitting for the maid cafe we were doing for the Cultural Festival would take place.
Everyone started making noise, going “Wah~ kyah~”. The boys wanted to see the girls in maid outfits, and the girls seemed half embarrassed, half amused.
Naturally, Suzuhara-san would be wearing one too.
“It’s a little embarrassing.”
In the seat next to me, Suzuhara-san smiled shyly.
“I kind of want to see you in a maid outfit, Suzuhara-san.”
“Hmm, is that so.”
Suzuhara-san said, her cheeks turning red.
“You’re pretty direct, Madarame-kun.”
“S-Sorry.”
“No, I don’t dislike it. I prefer it that way. In that case, I’ll show you my maid look.”
But then, I let out an “Ah.”
“I couldn’t stay after school today.”
“Is that so?”
“I have things to do on Fridays…”
“I see.”
Suzuhara-san said, turning her face to the side shyly.
“Then… I’ll send you a photo later.”
“Really!?”
“Because… you want to see it, right?”
Seeing a cool girl acting shy was the best.
I must not let the missiles fall, for the sake of protecting my Aoharu too. I have to save the world. Thinking that, I left school and headed for Ravi’s Tailor.
Yes, Friday is the day I act to save the world.
With strong determination, I went to the tailor shop, and Ravi came out to greet me. Ravi is the cross-dressing beauty who runs the tailor shop.
“Huh? Where’s Friday?”
When I ask, Rabbi-san says, “Don’t be shy, come on out.”
Then, Friday timidly emerges from behind the shelves.
She’s usually a silent maid with a perpetually cold expression. That’s the Friday I know, but today, the impression she gives off is completely different.
It’s because Friday is wearing a uniform. And by uniform, I mean a school uniform. A blazer, a mini-skirt, and a cream-colored cardigan. The ultra-stereotype.
“Wait, you’ve turned into a high school girl…”
While I’m standing there in shock, Rabbi-san speaks up.
“Friday has been a maid for a long time, you see, but it seems she wanted to try being a high school girl for a change.”
Without changing her expression, Friday gives a small, “Mm-hmm,” and nods.
“And so, Madarame-kun, take Friday out to the city today and let her do some ‘high school girl-ish’ things.”
I can’t help but think:
“Is this really an activity that saves the world!?”
