Female Soldier Infiltration Volume 4 Chapter 2 part 13

Wellrain had mountains of paperwork and really didn’t want to hold a meeting about his adult son’s education—but the sheer maternal pressure packed into that single “What?” crushed his resistance.

Truthfully, Wellrain already felt Addis had grown plenty—thanks to Raze. After all, his son—who’d previously insisted on joining the Knights instead of attending this academy—had sought training from Vanessa and started working hard…

Still, he couldn’t help wishing Addis would win this match. Yet his hopes dimmed seeing Raze, who’d only now picked up a weapon for the first time in this tournament.

And so—the final gong rang out.

All eyes locked onto the opening move.

Raze Granoli stood at the center of everyone’s attention.

Most expected her to blitz Addis with her usual high-speed assault—but instead, she remained perfectly still, relaxed and natural.

Addis, surprised she wasn’t coming, wrapped his entire body in armor of wind and closed the distance.

Clang! The sound of practice blades clashing rang out—Raze had blocked Addis’s longsword with her short blade.

“Why won’t you come at me?!”

Addis roared, unleashing a flurry of sword techniques.

Effortlessly, Raze parried every strike with just her short sword, weaving in fluid martial arts movements.

To a trained eye, her motions screamed “professional soldier.”

But this was a noble academy, where joining the Knights was considered the pinnacle of future success.

Raze’s military-style fighting was unconventional—alien, even—and radiated a savage ferocity.

“Gh—!”

Addis gasped as Raze suddenly slipped inside his guard.

“—Good.”

A faint, relaxed smile curved her lips.

While Addis boosted his abilities with wind magic, Raze relied solely on physical enhancement.

To heighten her focus another notch, she exhaled deeply.

Her switch was fully flipped.

These were the eyes of a hunter.

Under pressure unlike anything he’d ever felt, Addis’s skin prickled with goosebumps.

Wary, he leapt back, switching to long-range attacks.

He launched wind slashes.

This technique alone was powerful enough that the referee nearly called an immediate halt to the match.

How would she evade this inescapable assault?

Tension gripped the arena.

—but.

“How is she just standing there normally?!”

A stunned voice slipped from the audience.

Though seemingly struck by wind blades, Raze stood motionless, offering no resistance.

It made no sense.

“L-Luca… what’s going on?”

Folia, watching the two, turned to Luca—the magic expert.

“…This is…”

As he stared, dumbfounded, Carne suddenly cried out, “Ah!”

“Raze! You did it!”

Carne giggled, leaving her companions utterly confused.

“If we’re talking instant movement, this must be it!”

“Carne… what do you mean?”

When Ruben asked, Carne grinned.

“That’s an afterimage!”

“…………”

The otome game crew, completely lost, tilted their heads in unison.

“I always wanted to see it once… I never imagined she’d pull it off on such a grand stage!”

“…Lady Carne, I didn’t follow all that—but is it safe to say Granoli’s been dodging those attacks?”

At Ian’s question, Carne nodded.

“Yes! What you’re seeing now is just her afterimage!”

In short—that’s exactly what was happening.

Raze was indulging Carne’s wish by extravagantly wasting high-level magic.

(…Time to wrap this up.)

Raze, who’d been dodging Addis’s attacks this whole time,

noticed the crowd’s mood souring.

“Why isn’t she moving?”

“What’s she planning?”

“Maybe she’s out of options…”

To the audience, she just looked like she was standing there doing nothing—and their patience was wearing thin.

(Hm…)

Thinking she might’ve overdone it, Raze locked eyes with Addis and stopped leaving afterimages.

Addis jolted, quickly repositioning his sword for close combat.

(Well, you’d assume I’d come to you, right?)

She gave a faint smile.

“Come here.”

Before Addis could even process her words—

His body was already within Raze Granoli’s range.

Specifically, right where her short sword was pointed.

“—Huh?”

A weak, deflated sound escaped his lips.

“That’s enough!”

The match ended instantly. The victor’s name flashed on the screen.

“Winner: Raze Granoli!”

This match would later be remembered as the most shocking final in tournament history—and its footage replayed endlessly for years to come.

“Raze, congratulations on your victory! And Lord Addis, congratulations on second place! Amazing!”

“Thank you…”

After the match, Razé went through the award ceremony as expected.

After the award ceremony, Raze met up with Carne’s group, waiting for instructions to leave the arena. The newly installed screens replayed countless match highlights—including an unusually high number of extremely short clips, most of which featured Raze.

(Finally over…)

She breathed a sigh of relief, glad to escape the dome’s oppressive, piercing gazes.

“Raze-chan! What did you do at the end of your match with Lord Addis?”

“Huh? Oh—that was apport. I pulled him toward me.”

“What?! You can do that too?!”

“Yeah. Though apport isn’t that rare. If you specialize in movement magic, teleport and apport are basic skills.”

As Folia excitedly questioned her, Luca frowned skeptically.

“That’s true… but you didn’t use teleport even once this tournament.”

“Wait—so even moving that fast, you didn’t use instant movement at all?!”

“Slow-motion replays clearly show Granoli was just running—pure high-speed movement.”

“Wow! Raze-chan’s seriously amazing!” Folia squealed in the distance, but Raze was lost in thought.

(Now the real question is—how will the Empire react…?)

Their move this time had been to predict the tournament winner before prophesying some “great calamity” in Cyan.

In Raze’s estimation, that Seeress of Foresight was almost certainly a reincarnator or transmigrator who believed this world was an otome game. The fact that someone like her—a mere background character—was bending the plot meant that “great calamity” was very likely to happen.

(Since the Emerald Palace incident, we already know Lady Carne’s memories might have gaps… I really wish that Seeress would leak us some intel…)

In moments like this, Raze couldn’t help but wish she’d been reborn with otome game knowledge herself. Honestly, maybe it was because she’d chosen a military career—but she just couldn’t shake the feeling that such flowery, idealistic worlds were utterly unrealistic.

Frankly, Raze didn’t care about the otome game’s plot twists—she’d be perfectly happy knowing only the events that posed direct danger.

Actually, even without knowing the otome game, her duty as a servant of the nation was clear: eliminate threats.

No matter the hidden circumstances of her mission, she’d always do what she could—and that wouldn’t change.

Besides, school life lasted only three years. Even if she knew every detail of those three years, who could say how it’d affect the long life awaiting her after youth faded?

(Sigh… I really want to retire early and live a lazy, luxurious life. But as long as the stalemate with Magenda continues, they won’t let go of ‘Wolf Fang’… Guess that’s still a ways off.)

Raze sighed inwardly.

With the second Battle Festa concluded, the next event was the school festival—a quintessential student celebration, and prime territory for otome game events. Expecting nothing to happen would be unnatural.

“If you’re free, how about a victory party afterward? I’ve already rented a room and made preparations.”

“I’d love to! Thank you!”

“Hehe. Claude helped too.”

“Oh! Thanks, Claude! Did you get meat ready?”

“Knowing Ian, I ordered some from the shop.”

“Alright!”

Raze watched from a distance as Carne and the others laughed happily.

Just three years of school life—and already halfway through.

She’d always suppressed the dissonance of being a bloodstained, orphaned soldier among ordinary students, telling herself it was just part of her mission.

But even on a mission, living alongside them as friends had been genuinely fun. After all, these were her first real friends her own age—and she had to admit, experiencing this precious, time-limited phase of “student life” had made her giddy with excitement.

(…How much longer can I stay like this?)

Just three years. Yet those three years mattered. Or maybe—depending on the situation—she wouldn’t even last that long.

“Granoli, you’re coming too, right?!”

Called by Ian, Raze smiled.

“Yes. I’ll be there.”

Worrying about an uncertain future was pointless.

Anyone who dared disrupt their precious time—she’d crush them herself. That was her job. And her duty as their friend.

(No one’s laying a finger on these people.)

Raze turned slightly, her gaze sharper than any knife.

The figure who’d been watching her from the shadows met her eyes—and flinched, shoulders trembling.

(If you’re going to do something… come at me.)

I know you’re the traitor, she silently declared to the Imperial agent she’d been letting run loose.

This was her declaration of war.

Imperial spies. Another transmigrator. Carne turning into a monster.

Whatever threats arose in this nation—she, known as “Wolf Fang,” would stop them all.

The otome game’s three-year timeline had long since twisted beyond recognition.
