Mob Villain In An Otome Game Volume 3 Chapter 30 part 2

“Wha…!?”

Struck by Nunnaly’s calm counterargument after silently listening to him, Rogus was left speechless with his mouth agape. Pressing her point further, she continued:

“If you were truly recognized by each of those individuals for your own merits, then surely you would have some accomplishments or deeds involving them directly.”

She left a pregnant pause, waiting to see if he could refute her. When no rebuttal came, she gave a wry smile.

“…If you have none, then I’m afraid those people you listed are not acknowledging you personally.”

“Y-You…y-you…!”

Trembling at her sharp criticism, Rogus seemed to lack any counterargument. Nunnaly openly sighed.

“Fuu…Well then, regarding the results of today’s marriage meeting, I shall have my response sent to you later. You are dismissed.”

“Y-You mock me…! Nunnaly Ronamis, I will not forget this indignity!”

With that parting snipe, Rogus stormed out of the meeting room and the Ronamis estate altogether. Left alone in the room, Nunnaly drained her remaining tea with a elegant motion, let out a “Fuh,” and cradled her forehead in her hand with a bowed head.

“Haah…I may have gone too far.”

A few days later, the marriage meeting between Rogus Galianos and Nunnaly Ronamis unsurprisingly fell through. Around the same time, rumors spread that Nunnaly Ronamis held marriage meetings without any intention of actually getting engaged, taking pleasure in ruthlessly insulting her prospective grooms – earning her the moniker of the “Harsh Princess.” Yet Nunnaly showed no concern over such gossip, seeming to only aggravate the very people spreading it in the first place.

That day, Nunnaly had gone to the imperial palace to meet with her friend Matilda, who was engaged to Crown Prince Arwin.

“Ahahaha!”

“…You don’t need to laugh that much, Matilda.”

“Fufu, sorry, sorry. But it is rather funny.”

Not expecting Matilda to outright laugh at her venting about the marriage meeting, Nunnaly turned away with a slight pout. The two had been friends since their academy days and still enjoyed bantering like this. Eventually, Nunnaly let out a soft sigh and turned her gaze back to Matilda.

“Still, with nobles constantly proposing to join the Ronamis family lineage, these marriage meetings are getting quite tiresome. Perhaps I should have had Father arrange for a fiancé earlier like you did, Matilda.”

“There are pros and cons to that. While an early engagement screened out the oddballs for me, it also brought plenty of expectations I had to meet.”

After taking a sip of her tea, Matilda seemed to suddenly remember something and muttered:

“Come to think of it…I heard Arwin’s friend Reiner Baldia doesn’t have a fiancée yet either. Did the Baldia family ever propose to the Ronamis, Nunnaly?”

“The House of Baldia… you mean that House of Baldia known as the ‘Empire’s Sword’?”

At this sudden topic, Nunnaly tilted her head. The House of Baldia was a margrave house guarding the empire’s eastern border. Due to their military might, they were called the ‘Empire’s Sword,’ and their name was known not only within the empire but in other countries as well. They also had a history as distinguished as the House of Ronamis.

“Of course, that’s the House of Baldia I mean. Besides, you’ve met Reiner several times, haven’t you? He’s that silver-haired civil official who’s always beside Arwin.”

“What?! The eldest son of a margrave house should be a military official. Why is he serving as a civil official under Lord Arwin?”

“Being on the frontier means they need to negotiate with other countries and sometimes mobilize troops independently in emergencies. That’s probably why he needed to learn about the empire’s central workings. Well, I don’t know the details either.”

“I see… being a margrave house is tough too.”

As Nunnaly nodded with an impressed expression, Matilda smiled mischievously.

“Fufu. You and Reiner might actually be a good match. If you’re interested, should I arrange a marriage meeting? Though many young ladies avoid him because his domain is on the frontier, he’s quite a good man.”

“While I’m a bit intrigued that Matilda would call someone a ‘good man,’ I’ll pass for now. I’m a bit tired of marriage meetings.”

Nunnaly made an exaggerated gesture of exhaustion.

“That’s quite luxurious talk. It’s better than having no marriage prospects at all.”

“Well, I suppose that’s true.”

Nunnaly smiled wryly. The two continued their pleasant conversation afterward.

About a month had passed since Nunnaly Ronamis’s marriage arrangement with Rogus Galiano fell through. The number of marriage proposals for Nunnaly had drastically decreased from before. However, now a bigger problem had arisen. Rogus, whose marriage arrangement had been canceled, began persistently pursuing Nunnaly.

He would somehow investigate Nunnaly’s movements and try to make contact by getting ahead of her. Eventually, feeling threatened, she began wearing simple disguises in addition to having guards when going out. However, that day, after Rogus saw through her disguise, Nunnaly was separated from her guards and found herself in dire straits.

Just as she whispered in her heart (Please… someone help me…) while in their captivity, a young man appearing to be a civil official wearing glasses appeared.

This young man instantly defeated Rogus and his male guards. Soon after, the young man’s companions caught up with him.

When Nunnaly asked to know their names so she could properly thank them for their help, one of the young man’s companions refused, saying “Due to our positions, we cannot. Please forgive us.”

However, Nunnaly didn’t miss hearing the bald man who appeared to be the young man’s guard calling him “Lord Reiner.”

After that, she moved quickly. She contacted Matilda, saying she had something urgent to discuss.

“It’s unusual for you to have urgent business. What’s wrong?”

“I’m sorry, Matilda. But there’s something I really need to ask you.”

“Well, if it’s something I can do, I’ll help… but what’s the request?”

Matilda caught her breath at Nunnaly’s intensity and demeanor.

“Um… well… I was wondering if you could possibly arrange a marriage meeting between myself and Lord Reiner Baldia?”

“……”

Matilda was speechless at this unexpected request. However, she quickly collected herself and cleared her throat.

“Well, regarding your question, arranging a marriage meeting between you and Reiner would probably be possible.”

“Really?! Then, could you arrange it right away?”

“That’s fine, but you must tell me the reason. That’s my condition.”

“Ah, yes. W-Well, actually…”

Matilda was amazed to hear the circumstances from the blushing Nunnaly. She was also relieved that Nunnaly was safe.

Afterward, a marriage meeting between Nunnaly and Reiner was arranged, and they successfully married.

“…And that’s how it went.”

As Nunnaly finished her story, Meldi nodded with an impressed look.

“Wow, so Father was incredibly strong from long ago and protected Mother!”

“Fufu, that’s right. To me, Reiner is still my savior.”

Nunnaly answered shyly. As the parent and child chatted happily, Danae whispered quietly so they couldn’t hear:

“To go from just learning a gentleman’s name to arranging a marriage meeting… Lady Nunnaly was unexpectedly aggressive in romance. Maybe I should learn from her…”
